I think I forgot to mention the quality of bowlers in our domestic matches. OR the quality of pitches. You have a clue right? On how well prepared the wickets are for Ranji/Irani/Duleep Trophies? Or how good the rest of the bowlers in India are? Take a look around and I am sure you won't find ONE quick bowler in the whole country apart from those who are already in the 15 member squad to play international cricket. Same goes with spinners too, save for young Piyush Chawla. And here you have our ODI side battling against the best bowlers in ODI sides in 07. Yes, that includes players like Ntini, Pollock, Flintoff, Broad, Harmison, Bret Lee, Brackan, Johnson and many more.

And they played against a team as formidable as the Aussies?

We cannot put to test our young players to the best team in the world and say they have not performed. I would rather prefer youth and experience has to go hand in glove at least upto next 2~3 years till our young players are groomed to take on the opposition.

Show me one player/captain who was kept in the team inspite of repeated failures like Ganguly was before he was dropped. He was the leader and he held on to his place pushing Yuvraj to open (this will take another thread) - and compare that to Border or Waugh who saw fitter and better players than themselves (at that time) , relinquished captaincy and walked away.

In fact our Fab 3 should be playing like what Hayden is this last one year. Fearless and lead the youngsters from the front. Do they ? No - they don't. They want to hang in there with a few performances while Hayden is answering the selectors who dropped him with runs and match winning performances every time he goes out to bat.

Agreed. Which is why he should still be a captain.
I would prefer him to be a non playing captain.

Dhoni is a very bad captain IMO.
I agree - infact at last we agree on a point Zaheer and RP were getting tonked everywhere and Dhoni continued with them. Dhoni is a safe captain with predictable moves. I do not know what Ravi Shastri sees when he writes that - "He rates Dhoni very highly as a captain"

Did anyone notice Ganguly cook up a strategy for Gilchrist in this match and it worked just a couple of ***** later? Ganguly went upto Dhoni and said "DO THIS" for the team. It worked, then some of us say "seniors are selfish". Come on, get a hang of yourself. I say if Ganguly was the captain of the side we would have fared much much better.
Let me be mean here and say that was a subtle message to the selectors - test captain vacancy is still there.

Come on every Tom, Dick & Harry knows that Pathan is the better swing bowler.
Not any more IMO. I still do not see Pathan getting back to his old days.

Go India!

7 full floors came to a standstill as all Indians in the office crowded around the flatscreens in each reception area. Worth it!

My MOM = Dhoni for that quickfire 50, but you know who will get it.

India win despite heroic batting by Sachin and the best chosen batting positions by Dhoni. Never mind, let us forgive our guys, we won, that's all matters!

Go on India!!
