EPL is EPL ipl is ipl buddy. The amount of soccer fans in the world is actually greater than the number of cric fans. These have been existent from a really long time and the format of epl has beena very tried tested one with clubs and tiers system. Here lets see how many viewers will actually end up watching the games. We may get bored wit cricket after sometime who knows?
Well just imagine wasting 4 hours watching a match daily?
It will be like the world cup in Indies

Hyderabad stitches in the best team. Chennai comes a close second even as Kolkata squanders a good opportunity to rival the best.

Wasnt there a rule that there should be a minimum of 3 players from that particular state to be in the team.

And only 11 no 14 members?

Both are pretty much different and hence cannot compare it.
For me sitting and watching football for 90 mins and no goal is waste of time!

The same point has been raised by TOI. The logic behind the bids is still out of my reach. TOI points:
1) Muralitharan costs less than Shreesanth
2) Uthappa gets double of Ponting
3) Dinesh Karthik costs more than Jayawardena

isn't it?

Funny stuff:
SRK buys Ajit Agarkar, Umar Gul, David Hussey and Murali Kartik. Then he pays $950,000 for Ishant Sharma, but he already has Shoaib Akthar

Mallya buys Aussie discard Cameron White for five times his base price

Jaipur bid for kaif at $675,000 (base price: $175,000)

BCCI have pulled it off thus far. I hope they manage to sustain a high level of interest in IPL in the years to come.

What I find interesting is that players who would not normally make it even into the ODI team, have been valued at sky-high prices by IPL and its franchisees.

NC that was a good observation.

Well my comments on each team.
Hyderabad: Great selection by guys in deccan chronicle. They got great explosive batsmen and 4 good bowlers. So a balance of sorts is achieved.
They basically can do this

Chennai: Good batsmen for Indian conditions but their weak point is their bowlers.

Kolkota: Good bowlers but lacking in where its most important batsmen. 2 wickets down and the team is able to crash through.

Mohali: Good pace attack but batsmen are too traditional 1 run a ball type.

Delhi: Find this a real weird team. GMR kya kar raha tha?

Jaipur: Should appreciate them as they will have half the team as new faces which is a good oppourtunity.

Mumbai:Half the team are near their retirement. So good way to give them a farewell

Bangalore: Well this is a test selectors dream team. If they reach 100 will be a great achievement. Dravid, Kallis well no idea how this team got selected. Still can hope the magic from the owner. So maybe we can see more of Shilpa and Shamita shetty on the field now.

My top 4 picks

Hyderabad
Chennai
Mohali
Kolkatta / Mumbai

And on paper it looks to be a Hyderabad - Chennai final.

Just need to clarify one thing - will this bidding for players happen every year ?

@ Maddy - Delhi has some very good fielders.

Also have all the teams named themselves ??

Kolkatta I feel has made a big mistake by getting Shoaib. I feel SRK got carried away with all the India Pakistan bonding.
