"With that last six from Sehwag, another record has gone down. This is the most number of runs scored by an individual in a day since 1954 when Denis Compton scored 273."

Sehwag closing on a triple. 400 is not far away, mate!
I know. But I would anyday take Rahul Dravid's fifties in each innings of the Sabina Park test during the last WI tour (the only two fifties scored in that entire match).

Please don't flame me for saying this. I am no taking anything away from Sehwag. Any score in excess of 200/300 is a tribute to batsman's temperament. But Sehwag himself would value few other knocks of his, more than the current one.

Btw, Jaffer must be kicking himself on missing on a big one!

For me this is test cricket at its boring best!

I wonder why don't you like some bloke's 40 odd runs in some year 192x. Each man his own. Dravid is at the crease - see his capability to score runs .

"Another world record, this one relating to partnerships. Jaffer and Sehwag put on 213 runs for the first wicket and Sehwag and Dravid crossed 200 for the second wicket. This is the first time in Test cricket there's been partnerships of 200-plus runs for the first two wickets"

Way to Sehwag ! Show who is the BEST!!

Ok no replies!!!
Dravid has completed his fifty. Now would be fun to see whether sehwag wil try to hit a six to get his 300

I do like. And I can narrate many such instances. But I better not tell you.

The magic of seeing a batsman struggle to score every run would be completely lost upon you!

As you say, to each his own.

Thats one aspect of batting. Other aspect is to score easily when situation requires. Dravid has miserably failed here. But Sehwag was proved he is the man for both aspects of batting.

Only Bradman and Lara have scored two triple-centuries in Test cricket

NOW SEHWAG JOINS THEM

fastest triple ton, just off 278 deliveries

I was not debating on who amongst Dravid and Sehwag is a better bat.

I was just talking about having a even contest between bat and ball, which isn't the case in this test.

I would much rather prefer to watch a Twenty20 tie over such mundane test.

Congrats Sehwag on reaching the 300 figure mark!

Bang on. The pitch curator could have done better. If you look at this match as a neutral, it will be a case of both teams going through the motions.

This test can still turn out to be quite interesting. If India manages to get a lead of 50 odd runs by lunch tomorrow and declares, there will be only one team which can lose from there - South Africa.

I don't think India will declare anytime soon. THey will bat the whole day tomorrow and get a lead of 200 plus and try to bowl out the SAFs on final day. Thats should be their plan on paper.

The question is, would the pitch change so drastically on final day to allow that to happen?

The indications so far point otherwise.

. Get a lead of 200, put the opposition in on the last day and WIN. This how Australia play.

This way SA will look forward to play out only 3 sessions; but if we declare tomorrow after lunch, even with a lead of 50, they'll have to play out at least 4 sessions. 'Coz with Sehwag and Dhoni 250 odd will be gettable in 35-40 overs.

Just my two cents.
