I feel sad for dravid, he is better than what he is showing himself to be.

Yet another fallback after being on top !! i thought we would cross 400 till Sachin got out. Now even 350 looks tough. Hats off to Sehwag !! He has to carry on. Dhoni is being missed in the middle order big time.

'Not out' Dravid walks out
  • An oversight cost Rahul Dravid his wicket
  • It was a googly that grazed his bat and pad and went straight to the fielder, Malinda Warnapura, at forward short-leg. An immediate appeal followed and Dravid began walking back to the pavilion
  • However, TV replays showed that the catch was deflected off Warnapura's hand and went on to hit his helmet which meant that the batsman was not out as per rules .
3 Inferences:
  • Dravid doesn't like to play by rules of the game
  • Dravid doesn't have respect for umpires - He makes His decisions !
  • In this age of 3rd umpires, referral system, looks like the old timers are not able to cope with the change.

Sehwag completes 5000 runs in test cricket

V Sehwag: 150* off 144 deliveries with 21 fours , 2 sixes with SR of 104.16

This is the 11th consecutive hundred that he has converted into a 150: What a record, what a batsman !!!

Economy:
Mendis: 5.26 (79 off 15 overs)
Muralidhran: 4.33 (65 off 15 overs)
Sehwag, strike rate: 105.19 (162 off 152)

When the 'experienced' were bamboozled by the turners of Mendis & Muralidharan, Sehwag has taken them to cleaners !!!

Bravo Sehwag, congrats on yet another double century, his fifth!

What a batsman he is.

India must be cursed to have some of the most senseless (brainless) players batting lower down. What was Zaheer Khan doing playing such a shot when his teammate was just 5 short of double century? Deserves a kick on his @ss for his stupidity.

On a sombre note, former Mumbai captain, Ashok Mankad passes away. RIP Ashok.

Sehwag was headed for yet another triple hundred but rest of the batsmen were foxed by spin

Sehwag on 199* & India: 327/9
80.3 Muralitharan to Sehwag, no run, goes back to cut a spinning off break to the off side and to cover point and he refuses the single! he doesn't want to expose Ishant . He could have taken the 200 , though
What selfless batting !!! Lesson for the one who has loads of runs but no victories....

Sehwag 200* 22 fours & 4 sixes

India 329 all out then. Out of which Sehwag alone scored 201. Absolutely no application by the rest of the batsmen. Terrible display
Sehwag becomes the second Indian batsman after Gavaskar to carry his bat through.

The pitch has become slower and slower. Lets see what the Indian spinners can do. Going by recent form - not much.

Sehwag decodes Mendis mystery

"The stand-out feature was the effortless manner in which Virender Sehwag handled Ajantha Mendis, who was virtually unplayable in Colombo"

Virender Sehwag acknowledges the crowd after racing along to his 150 cheers:

Well done Sehwag! Now lets hope that our spinners get some purchase from the pitch. The senior batsmen will get a chance to redeem themselves in the 2nd innings. If not, then a certain Rohit Sharma is warming the bench.

The spinners look very ineffective as of now. I hope I would not be flamed when I say India should start looking beyond Kumble (who is old and tired now) and Bhajji (who has disappointed in the last few years after showing early promise). Maybe its time Piyush Chawla and Pragyan Ojha are given longer stints in both forms of the game.

Just my two cents.

I think even Murali Karthik should be given another chance. Piyush chawla has been out of form in ODI. Hope he lives upto the expectation. Coming back to the match it looks like another SL day. I have a gut feeling India might lose this one also.

Murali bowled completely on the leg stump for Sachin and Vaas bowling wide of the off stump. Runs dried up, patience lost and edging it out while attempting to go for runs from wider balls.

Just would like to hear from guys here how would a ponting or Shewag would approach such a scene
