Trading on ebay...

I know many tbhp members actively trade on ebay. This thread is to collect tips and notes from the members on trading on ebay. How safe is it buying items from sellers on ebay India?

Last week I came across a bid on iMate k-jam. I bidded till 30,500 and the item wqas finally sold away at 31000. The actual winner did not take the item and so i was given a chance to take the item at my bid price. But I was scared to pay so much amount to someone i never saw.

This week i bidded on another k-jam. Currently I am the highest bidder but still 9 days to go before the bid ends.

I reported the non-payment to ebay. They rolledback the sale fee they charged to me. I don't know what action was taken on the bidder.

Can be risky - would say the odds are against buying. Would rather pay a little more and get an item with B&W.

Another option is craigslist.org - no auctions, but list what you want to sell, search for what you want to buy. The bigger Indian cities have separate sections, so makes it easier. But yet to become as popular as it is in the US. can also try indiaconnect.com.

Chances are, the other bidder who's close to you could be a dummy, just to increase the price.

I am not sure if any info about Ebay USA helps you.......
I bought my Honda VFR (motorcycle) on ebay motors. I also sold my Honda CBR on ebay. I got great prices on both. When it is an amount greater than $5k, I ask for a cash transaction.

For smaller electronics items, I opt to use Paypal. Its easy to use, and so far I have never had any issues. I just sold a Nokia 3650, and a memory card. I have not seen dummy bidders jacking up prices, but I can see how its possible. There are a lot of guys selling stuff directly from China/Hong Kong. Do you guys see this on Ebay India?

I shop on Ebay USA extensively, and have a pretty strong feedback score there. Its convenient, cheap and the only location to find rare items.

Sadly, I dont really think ebay India will ever have me as a customer.
