Anyone used Palio self-drive rental from Car A to B, Bengaluru?

Folks,

I just got off the phone with Car AtoB. They are offering palio 1.2 self drive rental in bengaluru.

Has anyone used them? Any reviews?

I plan to hire them in dec for a week long trip with 65 year old mom, and family, including a 8 month old niece. Am just worried about the reliability / condition of the cars.

Thanks in advance!

I was in a similar boat but in Chennai. All the rental agencies were asking mindblowing sums of money (seriously) for horrible cars and very unreasonable terms and conditions (like keeping my passport with them during the whole period) - I ended giving up.

So out of curiosity, how much are they charging for the week?

1000/weekday
1300/weekendday
10000 deposit
xerox of company ID & driving license.

Completely worth it IMHO

Are these costs irrespective of the mileage you clock everyday or do they have a cap on that? Also, how do they track fuel? Will they give you a car with the tank topped up and expect you to return with tank full?

Hiring a cab in Bangalore for a day used to cost around 650 bucks quite sometime back. They had some limits on the kms that could be covered , don't remember the details.

Also, unless you're really familiar with Bangalore roads and without a GPS, self driving won't be easy.

Thanks folks.

That is indeed irrespective of the mileage. We will anyways do 1000km in 8 days. He was mumbling about a tankfull - I will go into detail once I make up my mind.

sdp - i am a bit aware, and there's a GPS Plus you're quoting the 8hrs-80km rates - I'm considering a weeklong rental!

Biggest worry is the car giving some trouble - in a hired vehicle, you can ditch it and move on. In self drive, thats not an option!

@phamilyman

Avis has the self drive option n Bangalore check this link Luxury Car Rental Services in India | Car Hire Airport | Rent Car - Avis India

Will be more expensive but more reliable too! You can get an online quote. I think Hertz also has the same service too.

Europcar etc are about 1960 + taxes for a wagonR. Plus some silly limit like 100km beyond which its additional charges.

Avis charges 9000 a week (which is good) but then adds 500/day for collision damage waiver/theft protection - basically insurance!! That's about 16k including tax for 8 days, but i'll put the fuel.

A yellow board qualis from FNG will be 16-17k :-)

Now to find out how Mr A to B actually is... he will take 8900 bucks in 8 days!!

since you are travelling with family - it will be better to hire a innova with a driver from a reputed agency. usually- they have a cap on the mileage per day - it averages out over a longer period. since you will not be driving everyday of the 8 days. its usually 250kms a day - so you have a quota of about 2K kms. with driver batta and toll - IMHO a more comfortable option - as you can also enjoy the sights and sounds of the new place. A local driver is a boon as there will be no language barrier or navigational issues.
