perhaps a similar study should be conducted here after the 06' launches... skoda's laura is definitely going to lose some brownies with indian car junta... and not to mention skoda's sky-high spare part prices; it seems that the 1.9 tdi's clutch and persseure plate replacement costs around 70G's...!! an a/c cut-out costs about 7000 bucks..!!! sheesh...

i wouldn't be surprised if toyota wins the TCS survey; they seem to be playing their cards right, at least for now...

but a good thing about the TG list: the forrester is right up there on the 10th position...

Surprisingly, Toyota Corolla Verso is at no. 67!

What i can't understand is how does Skoda Octavia come in at 5 while the VW Golf, the car on which Octavia is built, comes in at 65? Why the huge difference?

Talking about Toyota , camry spares aint cheap either , that honour goes to the Sonata Embera ...... Yup Laura spare parts are going to be little on the higher side but it more than makes up for that by giving FE of 13kmpl and not to forget its a world class DIESEL !

Dost ,You get some you loose some ....... But if you want to own a piece of Reliable (survey shows that) German engineering under 20L , Laura is the way to go ! Rest lets wait and watch .......

Probably has something to do with the pricing. I think the UK pricing laws are extremely unfriendly towards VW.

But the worst bit is when he compares french cars to a bucket of horse manure. LOL

All the Last three Years the Top European (Owned) Brand is Skoda. That does indeed speak about their "Obsession With Quality" .

I guess they will start blowing their trumpet soon about it in India since they have to start selling their laura at premium (Helps as accord is below Octavia)

The results of the 2006 survey have been put up.
As usual the Japs and Skoda have done well.
And as usual the French and Mercedes Benz have been thrashed.

Isn't this survey severely outdated one? (It is based on 2005 models). Things turn over the head in an year and most likely, these results don't reflect current state of cars.

I see. Mercedes SL and SLK down there at 132/72 position, whereas in Forbes' Most reliable Luxury cars list for 2007 declares Mercedes SL and SLK are declared to have the highest quality. (Based on JD power for 2006 models).

I don't think this survey is outdated in any way. A research conducted during 2006 would ideally reflect the quality of cars made during 2005. As far as cars made during the year 2006 are concerned, you really should wait till Dec. 2007 to really know how they performed.

As per Forbes study, they compare cars in 2006 for 2007 results (which means they have undergone testing 1 full year). These are not newly introduced cars in 2006, but all the models continuing from earlier years.
