Leave look like Gulmohar or Tamarind. Another possibility is Drum stick.

If its Gulmohar you will start seeing it flowering in March.

That is Gulmohar with out doubt. I have planted 2 of these and have a very fast growth rate.

Looks Gulmohar. The only problem with the tree is the number of small leaves that it sheds. Gets into all the crevices of the car, which is a pain to clear.

We have many trees like this planted by builder in our apartment alongside boundary wall. All are very young, so i was wondering if they would grow bigger or remain small. Gulmohar i guess can grow quite big, so its good for the greenery of our apartment.

I am growing roses for the first time. Location Sydney.
And I can see why people are crazy about Roses. If there are plants with character then it must be Roses.

With a considerable amount of passion and experience in Balcony gardening over the few years, I'm sure I can be of help here.

1. Coriander
2. Pudina (mint)
3. Spinach
4. Bougainville (white & pink)
5. Money plants in various forms (indoor and outdoor)
6. Peace lilies (indoor)
7. Chillies (normal & king chilly)
8. Horse tail plant.
9. Rain lilies (white and Yellow)

Most of my plants have the same potting mix.
40% Coco Peat , 30% Vermicompost, 30% Potting soil.
I also use a Fertiliser once in 3 months. A handful of granules totally for all three pots.

For Coriander and Spinach, I use Long rectangle shaped plastic pots which are approx 15x8inches
Pudina - a round 8inch planting pot.

How do I propagate them ?
1. Coriander : buy whole seeds, soak them in water for a few hours, plant and wait for germination. Usually happens in a week.

2. Spinach: buy Spinach which have the roots from local markets, peel off leaves for use, plant the root and wait for growth. Happens in a week. Harvest leaves when required and wait till the plant flowers and use the seeds for further planting.

3. Pudina: easiest of all. Choose the thickest stems from the bunch of locally bought Pudina. Pluck the leaves and use for cooking. Immerse the stem in a glass of water till new leaves germinate. Usually happens in a week, and then replant these new stems.

All these plants require indirect sunlight. Too much sunlight will scorch them to death.

My "experience" in gardening is just walking into a nursery with my little son and we use the "point and buy" technique! So my narrow balcony now has about 10 pots with various plants. I know one of them is a rose and another is a money plant. 6 month survival rate has increased from 20% to 70%!
I found these little squirmy fellows in one of the pots (I think its a chilly plant that grew from seeds). I assume they are earthworms, but wanted to confirm.
I purchased several packets of vermicompost 6 months ago and use it once in a while in the pots.
If they are NOT earthworms, am I in trouble!!!

I think these are Red wigglers which are good for soil.

If they are borrowing in earth, they are by definition earthworms! They are essential for aerating the soil by constantly burrowing and coming out.
