Re: The Credit Card Thread

The validity on my old HDFC CC is expiring, and hdfc has decided to send me new CC. I have not yet received the card, but from internet login, I was able to find that it is a EMV VISA HNW REGALIA FRST INTL or a Regalia First International CC. How does this card stack up against the rest? I looked it up online and knew that I am now eligible for PriorityPass, which is welcome as I do travel a bit. The reward points is pegged at 4 points / Rs 150 spent. (that is what I understood.) I know HDFC has a way of sprucing up things to sound like they are the best. But I am not sure on the drawback of this card.

Yup. Priority pass lounge access is now chargeable at domestic locations at $27+ taxes per head and only complimentary for international locations.

In domestic lounges, yes.

But you get 2 visits/quarter via the Visa/MasterCard program. So, you just swipe your credit card, Rs. 1/- will be charged.

I have this for about 8 months now and used the lounge access first time last week. I like HDFC compared to citi, axis and ICICI. Shifting all my spends to HDFC in return for the priority pass that they gave me free of cost. I have asked for an upgrade to diners black, just got a call that she will check and revert.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I am looking to get a card which offers the below, please provide suggestions.

1. No membership/renewal fees
2. Offers on movie tickets
3. Priority Pass access for lounges, mostly international.

I currently have a ICICI Rubyx , citibank rewards and SCB titanium and am looking at replacing the citibank rewards card.

Try SBI ELITE. Heard they are good but be prepared for paperwork for obvious reasons.

Check out Yes Bank Preferred Credit card. You can get it for free if you meet certain criteria and depending on your credit history. You get 25% off on BookMyShow, along with lounge, and if you plan on spending abroad, then just 1.75% conversion charges for which you get 2% as reward points.

Would appreciate if you could elaborate on the "certain criteria" bit.

Also I heard the 1.75% conversion charges apply only if you hold a saving bank account with them. Is that true?

They have checks based on credit history, salary, cards you hold and ongoing offers. I can't elaborate on it, as I am unaware of the current policies.

1.75% conversion holds even if you don't hold bank account. I don't and can confirm this based on my trip to Europe in December.

Let me check this one, sounds promising. My credit score is quite good, over 750 so hopefully that would help

Visited Vivanta by Taj, Fisherman's Cove for dinner on Sunday with family and cousins. On the HDFC regalia dining delights they say for every 2000 spend, a card member will get a freebie, wine/coffee/desert. However this was not honored by the hotel. I've had this issue at other places too with other cards. How does one take this up?

HDFC Times Card covers points #2 and #3. However there is a minimal annual fee of 499+taxes.

I have applied online, submitted documents, verification calls are over before 15 days. Still it is in processing state. They have not neither rejected or accepted the application. Is there any idea how much time they take for the process? I am meeting all their criteria.
