Do you see the points posted in card account already?

What if the merchant has configured the POS terminal with some code which is excluded from reward points? I think it's possible that we may not get any points at all in such cases.

Happened to me other day, Infinia card was used at a coffee shop in a mall, and no points received, so i am thinking the reason is above.

Just checked and points are already reflecting.

I don't really think this makes sense. Merchant doesn't pay the reward... the bank does. and even then if he blocks the reward with some code he will be the loser because you'll just stop buying from him as you're not getting your reward point on transactions at his store.

I know merchant doesn't pay the reward, but how the merchant is registered in card network will determine the reward points. Below is from HDFC Bank's T&C.

month
If a merchant is using POS machine which is registered under one of those categories mentioned in point 12a, you will not get the points. That's my understanding here.

It is called as MCC - Merchant Category Code used by Banks and Card issuers and card networks. The merchant discount rate varies based on these categories - Fuel, insurance, government services, retail, grocery, Jewellery, rental etc and is agreement between merchant and issuing bank. Banks provide reward based as part of the earnings through MDR. This is how they restrict the rewards for certain categories when transaction is settled. So yes technically it is possible if the vendor is with wrong MCC code.

Reason why you didn't get reward points is the coffee shop POS may be under grocery MCC. You will receive it next month provided your have not exceeded the monthly limit in HDFC for grocery as it is calendar month capping. I had the same issue last month with chai Galli and confirmed it with customer care.

2. HDFC intermiles Card: Another useless card in terms of points and rewards but keeping an HDFC CC helps when there is a sale (on Apple products) on Amazon.

3. Amex Reward Card: Want to cancel but not sure if it will be good to keep an Amex for foreign travel

4. Flipkart Axis: This is for sure going.

5. Axis - Magnus: My favourite card. Its a keeper.

6. ICICI - Amazon Pay Card. No feelings about it but want to retain due to large number of Amazon purchases.
One point about the Flipkart Axis card - You get 1.5% cash back even on insurance payments. I would keep this is a good backup card for payments where Magnus wont give you points.

For Amazon, the only qualm I have is the points come as Amazon balance so you get lesser points on the next transaction as you are using accumulated points and just paying the rest. Plus you need prime to get the 5%.

For Amex, if it is LTF just do the 4 x 1500 transactions a month for the 1000 MR. If there is spend criteria of 1.5 l, just dump this as you have the Magnus anyway. HP has a fee waiver on Amex cards so fuel is a good way to get the points, just break the transaction into multiples.

I have the Royale too but it's LTF so I dont care. I have all these cards and a few more but they stay at home as backup incase I lose my wallet or need to get multiple people in a lounge and thats probably their only use.

if you have to keep an HDFC, can you get an LTF Regalia which also gives you foreign lounge access.

I need some urgent advice if possible. I booked flight tickets on happyfares.in for two passengers. I was directed there by Google flights so made the mistake of trusting them. After booking I got a PNR but when checking on the airline website there was no booking coming up with that PNR. Called the airline and was shocked at what they said: this is a group booking of 15 passengers and that passenger names are not added.

Called up happy fares and they say this a special promotional fare and that our names will show on the airlines website only 12-24 hours before departure! No idea what kind of scam they are running here but obviously I’m not ok with this as I basically don’t have a valid ticket with my name on it till just before departure in 10 days time. Loads of comments online saying the same thing about them but I missed seeing that before unfortunately.

HappyFares are not willing to refund me any money. So called up my credit card (ICICI Amazon) and they say they can’t do anything but that I have to raise a complaint with cyber crime?? I thought that I have much more protection than this?

Please can someone guide me on how to handle this situation? I have threatened HappyFares with a cyber crime complaint and also the consumer court but they are not budging. Shouldn’t my credit card provider be able to do something about this as that is the whole point of a credit card? Can’t they cancel the transaction?

Or what would be the implications of me telling the credit card company that this transaction was not me?

The amount is 9k but I’m just infuriated at this blatant cheating that is going on.

Please help!

They seem to be using group fare to give you a low fare. I feel that till they find 15 customers, they will not be able to confirm their booking, so only after they get all the customers can they confirm to you.

The credit card company can not help you in such cases. It will only reverse charges in case of fraud (that is if you do not get a booking or cannot board the plane due to their negligence).

In general I have desisted from using travel agents and travel sites for airline booking. I prefer the airline sites. The reasons are
. Most of the time the airline sites have less processing fees.
. Airline sites have all their flights listed, while travel sites may omit some.
. Cancelletaion is a breeze with airline sites, while with travel sites it takes longer and in general costlier (as they may not refund their commisions).
. In case of flight disruprion by the airline, they normally offer no cost changes, while travel sites may not.

Thanks, I agree and have learned my lesson but unfortunately got burned in the process.

Do I have any options with my credit card company to raise a chargeback request or a dispute?

At present none, as on the face of it there is no fraud detected. I feel that you will get the tickets a day before the filight, so keep your fingers crossed.

In the mean while please search the net for reviews of this company, that may give you some insight to their operation style and volumes.

One advise, is that before choosing a new site for any purchase, please do a thorough search on the net. Now a days many bloggers survive on reviewing, so there is always a review for any site. If there are none, then please avoid the site.

Axis Magnus - How do you folks keep track of the 1L mark ? I missed it by INR 301 this month. A few Amazon returns showed up on the last date of billing.

MS Excel or any Expense Manager.
That is the best way to keep track of it.

I use Walnut App to track expenses automatically from SMS. It has capability of letting me know per card usage. I never tracked it diligently so far.
