No its a Mastercard. And my purchase is on Apple.com which is US website, further complicating the situation.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Might be common knowledge for learned members here, however thought of sharing my experience with lounge access with the credit cards.

I had a recent travel with family from BLR and return from Amritsar. I have multiple cards which provide or advertise free lounge access and I am not a regular traveler, so the lounge limit would never be exhausted.

In both the Airports, IDFC First, AU, ICICI Rubyx did not work. HDFC CC and Debit cards worked in BLR, but not in Amritsar. On enquiring, I was informed by the bank officials that for lounge access to be enabled, there should be a minimum transaction of Rs.5k for that quarter. Either this was lost in the fine print or was added as an amendment later on, but this did come as a surprise. So anyone planning on using CC for lounge accesses. might want to check the usage criteria's as well.

My POV - This is a financial transaction and has nothing to do with the card provider's back end arrangements with the lounge service provider. If you aren't eligible for free use of the lounge then they will simply charge you for it.

With due respect, that is exactly what I meant/said as well. Unless you complete a certain financial eligibility criteria, the so called free lounge access, is not free.

Yes, ICICI has implemented this some time ago and now many banks are following these restrictions. I remember reading HDFC bank debit card also has this restriction from Jan 2024.

EMI on Credit Cards

We buy stuff from Amazon / Flipkart on No Cost or Cost EMI. Are these EMIs taken as loans and shown in your credit history? If yes, then is there a process to be done when the EMIs are completely paid off? I do keep buying stuff, of smaller values as well on EMIs and when I check my credit score on CRED, it shows few loans as active. The names are so different that it becomes difficult to know what that loan is about.

Have you opted for any Buy now pay later loans with Amazon or Flipkart. These do not come under credit card, but under different NBFCs.
Even if you have not bought anything under this loan, it will be reflected in the credit report.

Yes I have enrolled for the Amazon buy now pay later facility. I always clear the dues before time and it has no interest component. I have a fast tag from Karur Vysaya Bank and surprisingly it shows I have taken a loan from them and have been repaying it month on month (should I be worried about it?)

Nothing to worry.
KVB is the lending bank for Capital float(Axio). So you will see both the names in the report.

If you are not using these, you can request Amazon to close this account.

Thank you so much, this helps clarify the two records. Yes, I have requested Amazon to cancel the Pay later scheme as I don't use it anymore.

Have few more in-line queries:

1. Does this change (ceasing Amazon Pay Later) be reflected immediately in the credit/ CIBIL report?
2. In CIBIL website, it says your CIBIL score refresh is due in 61 days or so. What does this mean? The score is refreshed periodically and not on real time basis?
3. Is it worth buying the Rs.1200/- upgrade plan of CIBIL to keep track of the credit score?

Thanks in advance.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Hello, i have a lifetime free Infinia and see on the portal that i am eligible for the Metal now. However it says annual fee 12500 or so. I do not believe this is worth it, any suggestions? I always convert my points to shopping vouchers and use the lounge already available on the basic Infinia. Thats about what benefits i use.

There's no difference between the plastic and metal Infinia wrt. points' earning / redemption or card benefits. On the flip side, the metal has a higher spend criteria for fee waiver, and a higher fee. If you have a ltf (plastic) Infinia, stick with it.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I have SBI BPCL Octane fuel credit card. I want to redeem my reward points for cash against the statement. Has anyone done it before? In website I can see "Call us/EMail us for cash for points" but customer care says there is no such option.

No, it will take some time to reflect the changes.

Yes, it's refreshed periodically.

Not worth it. There are platforms which will share your CIBIL report for free. Ex. paisabazaar (no affiliation).
