As far as I know, we get 2% cashback on loading the money on Amazon Pay Balance.

Till last year cash back was 5% flat even for paying bills so it didn't mattered whether one paid through Amazon Pay Wallet or through credit card.
As far as I remember (I have been using this card for more than 2 years now), I have always got 2% cash back for bill payments, except for insurance premium, for which I got 5% initially. Later, even that got changed to 2% only.

I clearly remember getting 5% cash back in the past for loading the wallet.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Any views on the BPCL SBI Octane Card? It's offering 6.25% cashback on fuel spends which looks pretty good. Any other card which is better than this for fuel spends only?

Amex MRCC or Amex Gold Charge Card. 7.7+% Reward Rate. Can even go as high as 20%, if you are willing to focus on travel redemption.

Even i am thinking of going with this card as i am getting an offer in sbi as an add on card with existing sbi prime card. But was wondering if annual fees of 1.5k is worth it or not.

Thanks. Can you share how to get 7.7% from Amex MRCC? I have this card and am only aware about 0% convenience fee from HPCL outlets. The website also mentions that no reward points will be earned on fuel spend.

MRCC has 1000 Bonus Points on 4 x 1500 Transactions. I ask the Fuel Bunk attended to swipe 1500 x 2 during one fill and then repeat in the second. 1000 Points for 6000 Rs. The 24K Statement Credit Option gets you 0.375 Re per point. That's 6.25% reward rate. Now this is actually an old fashioned way on MRCC.

The new way is buying HP Petro Paycode Vouchers via Amex Reward Multiplier program. Do 1500 x 4 Transactions to buy these Vouchers and use these vouchers on HP Fuel bunks. So it will give 1240 Points in total for 6000 Rs. worth of fuel. That's 7.7% Reward Rate.

Amex runs offers like flat 15 Points per 100 Rs. or 20 Points per 100 Rs. on Reward Multiplier. Buying HP Paycode Vouchers worth Rs. 20,000 (4 x 5000) during such offers will get you total 5000 Points which will give you a reward rate of 9.3%. All these reward rates are still considering statement credit. If you consider, Amazon Vouchers on 18K Gold Collection or Taj Vouchers, then the reward rate only goes up. Airmiles & Hotel Transfer partners can elevate it to an even higher level.

Gold Charge Card is on similar lines. Instead of 4 x1500, you have to do 6 x 1000 Rs. Transactions. On normally, you will get 1600 Points. On those sale days, 1900 to 2200 Points. So a reward rate of 10% to 13.7% as a minimum.

Are you sure this 1500 swipe is applicable on fuel? I thought they specifically excluded petrol purchase.

There are no exclusions on that 4 x 1500+ swipes on Amex MRCC (or 6 x 1000+ on Amex Gold Charge)

Only regular reward points (1 Point per ₹50) are excluded on Fuel Purchases.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Those looking to get a new HDFC Bank credit card can start applying again!

RBI has apparently sent a letter to the bank (dated 17/August/2021) indicating they can start sourcing new credit card applications post the pause over the last few months.

Source.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Got this message on my Amazon account regarding my Amazon ICICI credit card. Now I can get 5% cash back on fuel transactions. The cash back will be limited to Rs.150 and only one transaction per card per month is eligible for cash back.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Any tangible benefits on procuring a RuPay credit card? Already have the usual suspects like Visa, Master and Diners.

Attachment 2197859
Has been around for a while and they judiciously credit INR 150 the next month.

RuPay is my primary debit card. I was after a made in India one. Banks aren't promoting this platform and this is why.

Rupay Creditcards are listed in Rupay website.

Quote:
The government’s decision to do away with merchant fees on all payments using RuPay debit cards appears to have had some unintended consequences. There are indications that banks are choosing to issue Visa and MasterCard, which do not face any restriction on fees unlike RuPay.

It is indeed sad to see Citi leaves its consumer operations in India. Talks are going on with the Singapore major DBS and with other Indian co's like HDFC for take over.

Should be finalised by end of October.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I have HDFC Regalia credit card for a while now. I missed paying my last month's due in full , and I am slapped with ~2k Finance Charges this month. This is the first miss across all my cards.

Has anyone in a similar situation tried talking to their customer care and ask for this charge to be reversed (maybe a goodwill gesture)?

If so, what is the number to talk to someone? All available contact numbers only have automated responses, no option to talk to a person.
