Re: The Credit Card Thread

Does anyone know of a credit card which offers travel insurance and lounge access (preferably covering international and domestic both)?

HDFC Bank Regalia First card used to offer both. Please check their website for current status.

I believe new applications are currently closed for Regalia First. Instead, the normal Regalia is being offered.

Not sure if any Indian card is giving Travel Insurance (at-least not the top tier ones), though Medical Insurance while on abroad trip is given by few (Citi Prestige, Amex Platinum Charge etc).

Lounge access is easily available via simplest cards like Yes First Exclusive (typically LTF), AU Zenith (LTF if you are employed in their select list of employers), HDFC Infinia, ICICI Sapphiro, SBI Prime / Elite etc.

Domestic access is common for many cards, but for the above ones, you will need a Priority Pass or Dragon Pass which is a feature of the card itself.

Do check the website of these cards to get more information if it meets your specific needs.

So I ended up getting the Infinia. My spend across the cards will be able to get me a waiver on the fee and the rewards seem to be better than Regalia.

The card looks remarkably similar to the Chase Sapphire Preferred I had in the US.

Haven't used the concierge etc yet, will update on that and the Golf program sometime.

Do initiate the Marriott membership as well. You can order it any time in the first year, and it is valid for a year. So, if you feel you don't have a lot of travel planned now, you can wait until you think you can make the most of it.

Honestly, it has been watered down so much, it is barely as useful as earlier, but get it anyway.

The 'normal' Regalia is the more expensive and more featured one.

Has AMEX commenced their card issuance? Don't think so.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Anyone holding the fbb STYLEUP SBI Card (Credit) and looking for a way to redeem the points, there is an option to get the Amazon Prime membership for 2,750 points + ₹750. Seemed like the best redemption option available considering the Prime membership is now ₹1,499 and rest of the redemption options were of not much value (to me).

1,600 points gets you a 3-month membership.

Separately, they are offering the SimplyCLICK SBI Card as a new card.

Is this a good card to have now that the USP of fbb card (10% off at fbb stores) is not available?

Yes.
SimplyClick is one of the best cards.
You get redemption options in the form of Amazon or Cleartrip vouchers on completing 2000 reward points (equal to INR 500 GV).
Plus, there are many online sales where SBI cards is a major partner, so 10% off upto certain values is a decent offer in itself.
You get fee waiver on completing INR 1 lakh.
Plus, you get INR 2000 Cleartrip voucher on completing INR 1 lakh (twice in a membership year).

Re: The Credit Card Thread

for the pros here.. i have a sizeable life insurance premium coming up, but was surprised to see I could no longer find the option to buy Amazon gift vouchers through the Amex Rewards portal (which i could later use to pay the premium through Amazon Pay).

Any suggestions on how to maximize rewards between using the HDFC Regalia and the AMEX Platinum Travel to pay my premium?

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Is it worth going for the HDFC Regalia card with these additional offers being thrown in ?
1. No joining fee plus lifetime free (annual fees waived for life)
2. Amazon vouchers worth Rs.2500
3. 5% unlimited cashback on spends

Is this too good to be true ?

*If I get this, I will close out the Citibank Rewards card that I have

Seems too good to be true indeed. Do you have any banking relationship with HDFC? If yes, then it might be possible that the bank is offering these freebies after looking at your customer profile.

I have been using HDFC DB since last 3 years and before that I was using Regalia. From what I know, LTF is something they do it for this card for almost everyone. 5% unlimited casbhback on spends - This is something that I have not heard of. Are they talking about purchases done through smartbuy portal? Or, any spending? If it is, any spending, then it is too good to believe.
