My all time favourite is Geoff "weeckeet" Boycott. He is just hilarious, outrageous and outspoken sucker.

One of my boycott favourites: "And Look, there is Inzmaam, sleeping in the non-striket crease". (Inzy obviously had got someone run out).

Hey remember when we used to have alternate English/Hindi commentary in Doordarshan? Narottam Puri would handle the English part with finesse, then would hand over the mike to the Hindi commentator dude, forgot the names. He had some stock phrases that gets on my nerves:

(1) Kaafi accha khel rahe hai.
(2) Behtareen shot... lekin koi run nahi.
(3) Aur yeh uthaa diyaaa hai.....OUT!!! (after a second look), maaf keejiye, out nahi, do run ke liye.
(4) Behtareen takneek istamaal karte hai....(And the next ball, the batsman gets out, leaving our dude speechless !!!)

Comparatively, the present day Hindi commentary is better...atleast they have a wider range of vocabulary

I remember this gem from yesteryears... India was in a spot of bother. Runs were needed at a fast clip. Vinod Kambli was batting with a non-descript batsman at the other end. Now Kambli used to have a bat with real thick grip. He hit two consecutive boundaries... The hindi commentator was floored... for want of anything better to say this guy goes...

"dekhiye kambli kaise baal krishna jaisa mohni khel khel rahe hain. Aur unka balla maano krishna ke haath mein sudarshan chakra ho..."

and I was like, "whaaa!" fire the sucker

I remember i was in school in 1992 & the India Australia Test Series was going on..( where Sachin Scored a 150, Ravi Shastri 200 odd & it was Shane Warne's debut Test Match)..& there was a wonderful commentator on AIR...a guy called Harsha Bhogle.. & what a wonderful find he was....

Krish takes the cake for bad commentary with his " see " , " bacikally " & "in mhy ohpinion"

should've been a check-box instead of a radio-button

worst commentators:
kris srikanth - no point listening to him
amarnath - hindi commentary is ok, english sucks
sidhu - better to mute than to listen
kapil dev - good that he didn't venture into commentating
sivaramakrishnan - irritating voice
arun lal - irritating voice + keeps repeating himself
ranjit fernando - oh man, who ever wants to listen to him

best:
shastri, boycott, bishop, slater, harsha, rameez raja

To me it is R shastri, I have followed cricket - he was the only cricketer who had no strokes - except the flick. It is jaw dropping - to hear him talk of technic.

OMG where is Charu Sharma............all my votes go to him.

And BTW I have noticed that that bugger is one unlucky chap for India whenever he is on TV as the anchor India sure goes down like a pack on cards.

Now that the India-NZ tour is on Set Max I am sure that duffer would try selling his wares on TV with an equally female sidekick of a host - cricket being sidelined and we would be discussing Rakhi Sawant and the likes

Minus Ravi all are boring to be honest.Manjrekar is like Kathavachak,Rameez is totally biased commentator I have ever heard in my life,I just hate listening to him, there was one very nice urdu commentator years back and he was Hasan Jalil,it was always a treat listening to him but now I think he is not seen any more.
All time fav is Richie Benaud and CMJ of BBC cricket.

Arun Lal, Krishnamachary Srikanth. More so, all the hindi-turned-english commentators with thier type cast and disintresting commentary.

Geoffery Boycott & Ian Chappell are two I enjoy(ed) listening too. Any one recollect Boycott and Sidhu commentary from the Sahara Cup series back in 97' / 98' ?!
Read a while ago that Boycott has throat Cancer
