Our main worry is the 5th bowler! Invariably one of our four front-line bowlers always has a bad day:Frustrati and that puts pressure on the part-timers and the captain's strategy goes haywire.

'Redeem' for what sin?

Also, Sachin has almost retired from international tamasha cricket anyway. He didn't play a single ODI in between his ODI & the current south africa series.

This is bound to happen. One of the greatest cricketers ever, playing for a cricket crazy nation, a nice humble chap, playing his last world cup but has never won one. So these reactions were bound to happen.

Agree with carboy here, I think redeem is not the correct term.

BY the term Redeem I meant the the guilt which he would have for life long of being the world best cricketer but not having won the world cup if India fails this time too. I am not being pessimist here.

The pressure on Sachin in a world cup and that too on a home ground would be too immense.

Why should he have any guilt at all? You have guilt only when it's your fault.
He averages 58 in all World Cup matches.

This is not boxing or any individual game that he has to win the world cup on its own. Its a team game and only if the whole team performs then we can win irrespective of how Sachin performs.
So he wont have the guilt but just a regret for not being a part of world cup winning team.

Don't be too sure.

I mean about Sachin playing his last world cup.

Oye, he could still be playing test cricket in 2015 but surely not ODIs :)

Some years back, I didn't even imagine that Sachin would be in the team. His reflexes were slower & his confidence was shot. A doctor friend of mine read about his wrist(or forearm) problems & said that it's very unlikely Sachin will be able to beat this. But he surprised everyone. He is still not a patch on what he was at this peak & his reflexes are slower, but he has still managed to string together a great year of cricket. I don't enjoy watching play anymore though. The old Sachin was one of the most skilled players I have had the benefit of watching (SRT, BCL, IVAR, SMG - IVAR was the best though).

It seems the injury list is growing before the WC.

For India:PK is out.
Australia: M Hussey and Hauritz

Still 10 days to go .. Lets see who all get out of the list !!!

Yes, Pravin Kumar all but ruled out due to elbow injury.
Sreesanth to probably replace PK.
I would have actually loved to see Sreesanth in the 15 (not as a replacement). Apart from a decent bowler, he is a great entertainer on the field :).

As far as SRT is considered, whether he is a part of the winning side, whether he will play the next WC or whether he shall be the highest run getter once again- makes no difference to me personally. He has done what no one else dare dream of. We are lucky to see him play. Thats all i have to say.

Not much enthusiasm I see in public for Cricket world cup even it is organized in our country.

Organizers should learn from Football World Cup as they are failed to generate enthusiasm.

This I agree with. Our generation is blessed to see him bat live.
