That is in the sharavathi valley near sagar.
The snaps are from my trek there last year to the basavanabaayi falls, belligundi falls and goodanagundi falls.
Last weekend , did a trek in the same area to the meghane hill peak, which is the highest peak in the sharavathi valley.
Another nice place for a weekend outing and also a BHP meet.
The hills of Ramdevarabetta. How to get there? Drive down to Ramanagaram on the Mysore road. Before you enter the town, you should see an arch on the right.
Another 5-10 minutes drive on this road would lead you to the base of the steps of the temple. Park there, climb up and you hit the temple.
The views are beautiful. You can go beyond the temple and you can see all the monoliths of Ramanagaram standing on a green carpet!
Nothing here to eat. So one can as well drive to Kamat or any other place, take his/her fill and head back to this place. The best part is you can reach this place in 45 minutes to an hour!

Its quite possible Raj. I did it this weekend! A wonderful place where you can feast your eyes on the greenery and also take your family along.

This is amazing. Thanks for sharing details of this place. I was just thinking I'd exhausted all possible places to visit on weekends (for morning to evening type of drive) and here we go again. I'll go check this place out. Two questions for you now : :D
1. How is the approach road?
2. When you say climb, are there steps to the top or do we need to trek?

1. From the main road, its just 1-2km to the base of the temple. Approach is decent. No issues at all.
2. When you reach at the base, you have to climb stairs to reach the temple.
The stairs are quite many, but its fun climbing. Do have a look at all the large spiders weaving webs!
Once you reach the temple, there is a watch tower where you can sit and enjoy.
Need to be very careful with kids as its a sheer precipice around.
Once done you can explore around. There is a path behind the temple which leads to the top of the hill.
One level of climb leads to a flat land. Its till here, you can take kids but not beyond. Its very steep beyond the flat land.
But since you are at the top, the panorama is fantastic with all the greenery.
Makes for a wonderful weekend visit. Do note if you plan to have BF at Kamat, you need to come back to Ramanagaram.

yes, Camping was not possible at all, it was the heaviest rain I have experienced I guess.
We trekked down to meghane village and stayed overnight at a local's place, and continued towards basavanabaayi falls the next morning.

Thanks ampere for creating this thread. Seeing the pics of the Yedakumari trek brings back lovely memories of my own trek there.
I see there are quite a few trekking enthusiasts out here, which is a good sign (I can get some hits for my upcoming Trekkalog:D). And I'm sure the majority are from Bangalore. Most of the well known trekking spots out there are just an overnight journey from Bangalore and that could be a reason for the high number.
At the start of the thread, people have mentioned about commercial trek organizers taking big groups of people together on treks. I, for one believe that the group of people who do the trek (any trek-easy, moderate, difficult, short, long etc) should not exceed 10-12 members. In larger groups, people tend to split up, form sub-groups of their own etc etc.
@figo_united, I saw your Meghane trek pics. Looks great and lovely. Ah!! the monsoon
