Re: Your favourite type of Road?

Definitely ghat roads - especially when the tarmac is gleaming black.

Uphill would be my prefereance.

Windows rolled down so I can hear the tires squealing.

And just for the ambience - a cloudy day.

Woohoo.,

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

Ghat Roads without doubt. All the ghats going down to Kokan from western Maharashtra rock. Especially the Amba ghat.

I love sedately driving through narrow and twisted, but well laid village roads with lush greenery on both sides. You find such roads in some parts of Kerala.

My next favourite would be ghat roads.

And when on the highway, it has to be a two laned divided one.

Exactly my sort of thing.

I love the 2 lane highways in Kerala especially when the surface tarring is done with a machine. They twist, turn and has a lot of elevation changes. It is a pleasure to drive when the traffic is low. You keep to your lane and you can have fun. But be very careful around the corners.

If one knows the road, the best time to drive is night when the traffic is low and the headlights tell you whats around the corner.

Some examples are Koothattukulam to Pala via Uzhavoor, Munnar - Kothamangalam road, Muvattupuzha - Piravom road, Muvattupuzha - Angamaly, Kottayam to Vaikom via Kumarakom etc. They are all amazing to drive, especially the Uzhavoor road. It is unbelievably green on both sides, narrow with low traffic and bag loads of fun.

I think we share something in common. Nothing more for me to say on this thread.

Here is something for us. Cheers.

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

For me it has got to be the Ghats uphill, hands down!
Nothing can beat the feeling of revving the engine to the Red-Line and conquering a turn and then yet another. Each time I do it the little racer in me comes out !
And the good thing is even if you rev hard, by the time you reach 40 or 50kmph there's another twistie waiting for you, so no worry of going uncontrollably fast.

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

Guess it goes without saying, especially with a RD350 there are no other better roads other than a twisty, ghat section with an uphill elevation and doing away with those chicken strips.

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

What ever road it may be (Bumper to Bumper city roads are not considered roads ), the most important aspect is one should be doing it first time.

There is always a thrill of "finding my way" and nothing is greater fun than exploring a new road. Whether its a ghat road, 2-lane SH or country roads its all fun for me !

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

Two-lane roads (ie without median), winding thru the hills, hence curving in both the axes.

Definitely Ghat roads. Loved the drive from Horanadu to Hassan via Mudigere..... Roads were good, single carriage type, dotted with villages and of course, the greenery of the Western Ghats!

One more Ghat lover! To name a few they are Panchgani - Mahabaleshwar on NH4, coastal road en route to Ganpatiphule (though sometime roads tend to be pothole ridden) and the best that I have driven till date is in Phuket, Thailand from Karon beach to Phrompthep Cape! Beautiful twists, lavish green vegetation and breathtaking blue sea views all the way!

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

Well, I would have voted for Jungle roads, had been one of the options.

This is one road, I love to the core.
Location: Bandipur Forest Reserve, on the way to Wayanad.
That ~30kms stretch was one of the best roads I have traveled. Clean shiny roads, lined with greenery on both sides, quite atmosphere, no honking. That drive was divine !!!

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

I like the narrow winding parking lots...especially on cement floors! using a single hand to maneuver the steering. Odd one out

Re: Your favourite type of Road?

We will be more cautious in Ghat roads. Never gets bored. Every curve is exciting.
The only drawback is that the driver cannot enjoy the scenery. He can enjoy driving though.
