I wish to start this thread to enable us post pictures of cars that were once the cynosure of everyone's eyes till only recently, but bad times were ahead. The same cars that were almost traffic stoppers once are now no more in demand and there are many who want to get rid of them. The Standard 2000, Contessa, Premier 118NE, Ford Escort, Daewoo Cielo, peugeot 309, Rover Montego Opel Astra (now the Corsa too), Maruti 800, Maruti Esteem and so on are among the many cars that are being discarded and are landing at the scrapyards.
The times are changing alas!
So friends, please upload pictures of rotting cars that fall in such a category for us all to see the metamorphosis our Time Clock can do

To start with here is a Matador van from the early 1980's rotting:

Thanks for your post, but actually all these are post 1980 Mahindra jeeps (mostly CJ 500D's and a 1989 540DP in the background) and hence these cannot be termed as classics under any definition whatsoever.

The tyres on the jeeps seem to be properly inflated.. wonder how so if they have been more or less abandoned.

The Standard 2000 was the ultimate many could think of among the Indian made cars, since the mid till the late 1980's.Soon it started losing its crown to the later cars. The pictures show one in its original paint, in a bad condition.

Mods, if this post needs to be shifted to the Motorbikes section please feel free to do so. Maybe a separate thread will have to be created there!

Hey anjan i do not think bullet can be part of this.it has cult following. The one posted here seems to be owned by some company\bank.

there use to be a bullet parked inside my dad's office which was there to be used by the field officer. It was also in similar condition like the one above.

A first generation Maruti Van, lying neglected and not in use.

A Daewoo Cielo with its original paint rotting- once the most sought after car in the C segment!:D

Cielos were once the epitome of luxury. Owning one attracted attention everywhere (even from Income Tax Dept). We had a 1996 model GLE dark blue color with full cream leather interiors. Kept her to 2007 and finally sold her for some 30K. Actually I should say that I was forced to due to lack of parking space.

There is one lying unused with my uncle :D.

While on a morning walk in Bangalore a few days ago, spotted these cars both old and new that have fallen on bad (but not so bad yet) times.

The very new, road metal layer has enclosed a part of the Josh Machine's tyre.

Extremely sorry state of cars. Ikon being a present gen car is kept in so much dust and same applies to Fiat and Zen. Why does a person buy them if he/she is unable to look after them. Secondly, The car's condition shows the pathetic mindset of the literate lot.

thanks

Anjan Da,

It would help if you can help put up the location of these beauties waiting to be rescued, IMHO .. else the highlighting would not yield results.

I am particularly interested in the 2000. ( you can call me crazy)

Cheers!
