Brother, were you in Bangalore today by any chance? And you thought of washing your car?

Re: Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road

This happened when I was visiting my hometown last week.

I was heading to railway station to pick my wife & sister, some 2 Kms before the station I notice a line of vehicles ahead. Since it was early morning on a saturday, I was sure it was not regular traffic.

Few vehicles in front of me take U turn fearing a block. I decide to continue in the same route and reach where I can see few people crowded near a Ford Fiesta.

At the same time, I notice there are few foreigners in the crowd. A lady from that group runs towards my car waiving me to stop.

By this time, I have made up my mind that one of the two has happened -
1. Someone in that group got hit by a vehicle when crossing the road.
2. Some moron molested one of the ladies in the group.

In either case, I decide to pitch in. Hence stop the car not minding about further jam I am causing ( ) and asked the lady what the issue was.

She replies that she wants to be taken to a village on outskirts of the town. On further checking the reason, she says that they are part of a Hungarian reality show which requires them to head to a checkpoint enroute to their nights destination of Kannur. They wanted to reach a Kathakalli training center outside the town for now.

Now, I am relieved that there is no untoward incident that happened. However at the same time I am irritated that they are not ready to leave me even on saying that I can't drive them some 20 off KMs out of town since I Am getting late for reaching railway station.

Finally I agreed that I will drop them near bus stop, from where they can catch bus which goes to northern side of city.

A muted and trimmed video of the same. I saw at least 2 teams roaming around city on that day. I am not able to get the name of the program, however from what they explained it looks to be something similar to Amazing Race which used to air on AXN earlier.

Must be something like that. I've seen a few foreigners running around, cameraman in tow, around Muzhapilangad beach. I used to watch the show. The team who comes in last during one leg of the race are left with only their passports and the clothes on their back. They literally have to beg to make to their destination.

Re: Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road

I am not sure if this is the right thread but anyway, here's one very unusual thing that happens with my car on road..
So I have a Lightning Blue EcoSport which is hardly 8 months old, so its still shiny and new looking. Whenever the car is washed and cleaned thoroughly and I take it out for a spin, the car gets attacked by honey-bee poops, a lot of it. It looks something like this :
Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road-lze9z.jpg

This happens on most of the days no matter what time of day or route I take, it will happen eventually before the end of the trip. At first I thought it maybe happening at some area where we have more trees but it happens just about anywhere like in middle of an highway with clear sky, all of a sudden I see lot of yellow spots on the windshield and when I go out and check it's all over the bonnet and roof of the car. On one fine day I had painstakingly cleaned the car inside-out and had gone to meet a friend at his office. I reached his office and parked the car on the side of the road where there isn't any tree or any other object around the car but open sky. I get out of the car and make a phone call to my friend while roaming around the car, as soon as I am off the call and I get back near the driver door, I am shocked to see a hell lot of yellow spots all over the windshield and the bonnet, I literally got into the car and screamed really loud to let all the anger out
The thing is that this happens only with my EcoSport, I drive around in our Red Kwid and Brown Tiago but it never happens with those cars under the same circumstances. It seems like either the Bees are taking revenge for messing with them in the past (as a kid I used to trouble them on small plants and have been stung also many times ) or they really like the Lightning Blue color or the EcoSport model. Either way I am really pissed. The most unusual part is whenever my car is attacked, I immediately look around the cars which are near my car and voila none of them seem to have been attacked with such spots and I am left wondering "WHY ME"..

Reminds me of 'Jhankar beats'- The movie! The lead actor has this really old Fiat on which pigeons poop selectively. Other cars around him were always clean

Do let us know if you find the reason. Will help keep our cars clean

Re: Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road

This bee poop thing happened on my car when I used to wax it with one of those fragrant waxes which have only smell and no actual benefitting ingredients.

See if any of your car care products have a fruity aroma.

Regards,
Shashi

This could be one of the reasons. I use the popular ProKlear Waterless Wash Concentrate, It doesn't seem to be having any fruity odor though. Need to investigate

Long time.

Well, audio was muted to avoid it getting uploaded to tik-tok or similar platforms

Funny Incident. What next? Bikers will be fined for not wearing a seat belt?

Kerala Traffic Police Just Challaned A Tata Nexon Driver For Not Wearing A Helmet.

Now that's one huge air brake .

Lucky for him that small cloth held the mattress in place.

Re: Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road

We were driving to Chennai from Ooty this Sunday afternoon and we were between Krishnagiri and Vellore somewhere. I was at the wheel and my dad was the front passenger. I noticed two cruising RE Himalayan motorcycles around 20 metres ahead of us with a pretty young girl adorning each motorcycle's backseat.

I presently diverted my eyes to my left ORVM to see why a pesky hatchback was honking and flashing his headlights so much. In doing so, I noted out of the corner of my eyes that one of the girls' right arm made a movement, perhaps to tuck her T-shirt into the rear of her low-hip jeans pants; but I didn't read too much into this nor did I rest my gaze on her. I was more interested in cursing the pesky hatchback for his noisiness. The hatchback sped past all of us and was gone from the scene quite soon.

Suddenly, the girl in question raised her right forearm and showed her middle finger. To whom? What did I do, if the finger was directed at me?

I felt offended. I looked askance at my dad and his eyebrows were raised high up. He's 67 years old and shouldn't have to see certain things, so I didn't say anything. An indecent gesture is hurtful only if acknowledged, besides.

The two motorcycles then sped away from us, as if on cue.

Sitting here in office right now, I wonder if the girl was suddenly made aware of having inadvertently flashed her (ahem) wares to the world at large and was broken out of her reverie by the noisy hatchback and showed the finger to no one in particular, as if to say "I don't know who saw my derriere but I don't care eitherway", to alleviate her sense of shame? What a weird experience that was.

Re: Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road

This was a few weeks ago when I was backpacking in south Thailand in Krabi. I had taken a bike for rental for a few days and I used to roam around for short half/full day trips. On a warm morning, I decided to take it easy and spend the morning in the hostel; and slept off most of the morning. I had a funny dream that I had lost all money and was roaming on the streets asking folks for support and some cash.

Woke up just before lunchtime, had a huge brunch and then left for a beach some 40+ kms away. Around a few hours later, on the return journey, I noticed the fuel gauge was nearing the "E" mark so stopped at the next bunk and filled up the tank with some ~2 liters of petrol. I was still some 25+ kms away from my hostel when I realized that I didn't have my purse on me!

I had two possible scenarios - the first being I lost my purse at the beach or the second being I had been traveling all this time without a purse. Then I just realized I had no cash to pay to the pump guys! Here was a situation where I didn't speak the local language (obviously) and the lady at the pump spoke very less English.

However I was able to explain to her that I lost my purse and will come back and pay her in an hour. The poor lady asked one of her colleagues for advice and he just shrugged his shoulders. I raced back to the hostel, hoping against hope that I left my purse there only, and not the worser situation of losing my purse in the beach; which would mean that paying back the pump lady would be the least of my problems.

30 mins later, thankfully I was able to locate my purse on my bed; and drove back immediately to the pump to pay her. The surprise and delight on her face was a sight for sore eyes - I believe she had more or less come to the understanding that I was not going to return. Later I also understood from my hostel owner that if I hadn't returned back, chances were high that the cost of those two liters might have come out of her pocket and also Thai workers are not that well paid either.

Finally after a few hours after all the running around, I realized my dream of the morning kinda just became real in a certain manner!

All's well that end's well, I guess!

I am almost 67, and not protected from seeing anything. I don't think I will be at 77 either

Curious experience, and you can never know what was in the young woman's mind.

It reminds me that most of the times I use the horn it is warning, frustration or annoyance, and most other drivers usually ignore the fact that they have annoyed someone. I remember one occasion on which I saw a man driving a two-wheeler with his wife and baby behind him. The baby was wrapped in a shawl, and the shawl had become unwrapped to the point of flapping around the wheel, almost down to the ground: this was a lethally dangerous situation.

It was not very fast moving city traffic. I could not get along-side them, but managed to honk until the lady turned around and looked, and then managed to gesture the problem. I saw the move to the side of the road and stop: I had done my good deed for that day.
