Fortunate that you escaped the incident.

Your incident probably solves the long standing paradox "When a bear soliloquys alone in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

This topic is covered in the Crash Avoidance Space post by SS-Traveller.
Never enter the space between two vehicles, if there is a no clear exit path for us to cross them.
I would wait patiently until the cab moves a fair distance for me to overtake safely.

Yes, I did wait for the cab to create sufficient space for me. The picture I posted is not to scale

As soon as I saw the opportunity, I was about to floor the accelerator
However, in such situations, one should also have some visibility of the path to the left and/or the right of the heavy vehicles. You never know a person/animal may be crossing hastily and is in your blind spot.

This specially happens when a bus halts at a bus stop. Always slow down in anticipation of someone crossing the road from the front side of the bus.

Turns out that an auto rickshaw came out of a small lane on the left and instead of taking a left, it took a right turn and started driving in the wrong direction, facing the truck on the left. That truck driver turned sharply to the middle lane to avoid a possible collision with the auto.

This is the precisely the reason why many trucks drive on the fast lane. It is impossible to drive on the slow lane in India, especially for trucks. If you see a truck on the fast lane (especially in a 2+2 lane highway, most likely he is trying to drive safe rather than hog the fast lane).

Re: Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road

Spotted this car during my morning commute and I had to post it here.

I liked the banter here, usually what I spot on such dirty cars are expletives but this one was funny.

Those who are not familiar with the devanagari script it says "Gadi dho lo malik" loosely translated to asking the owner to wash his/her car.

Re: Unusual / funny / heartwarming experiences on the road

My office moved to a new facility and since there was limited parking available, I decided to use a cab for my first visit.
While I was getting ready, my daughter booked a cab and I rushed the moment the cab arrived and my daughter was shouting out the OTP as I left home. I got into the cab, shared the OTP and the ride started. The driver conversed in Kannada and I responded back, all well. During the entire journey he was on phone with someone and speaking in Malayalam.

Forty minutes later I reach my destination and ask the cab driver in Malayalam (just happened, I didn’t even realise it!) how much the fare is. He replied back almost in a whisper and the look on his face was epic and priceless!

Was the experience towards the end something like this?

Story of a lost Airpods case

Yesterday I took to the bus to office. Was watching some YouTube videos on the way, stopped at a café to pick up the morning coffee. At the café I removed the Airpods and then noticed that the case was not in my pocket; probably slipped off the pocket while in the bus.

Thought of the options like reporting on the bus company lost & found page, and even how much does a new case cost etc. Suddenly saw a notification on the phone that "Your Airpods case is left behind”. Checked the Find My app in the iPhone and noticed that the case was travelling along with the bus. After a while, the location was stationary – the bus reached the final destination and parked at the Bus Interchange. I was checking the status occasionally and then noticed that the bus is on the move again. Around an hour later the bus reached back to the stop near my office. Boarded the bus and asked the bus captain if someone handed over an Airpods case and his answer was negative. Tapped in, went up to the upper deck for a quick search and found that someone had safely placed the case on a vacant seat.

The case location when the bus was parked

Well, not really, because I’m not a native Malayalam speaker, but can converse a bit. In fact this is reason for a lot of confusion even when I meet people and they’re left wondering what is my native language ? Needless to say, I’m the target of a lot of jokes from friends in my circle! well why not, if it can bring some
smiles, laughter and happiness on the faces of people in the stressed times that we live in.

100%.

Singapore has always fascinated me as a tourist.

The way they enforce discipline,

or promote healthy food habits for example.

Obviously, I don't know the local perspective of the deeper implications of the strict rules. As an automobile enthusiast I gasp when the cab drivers tell me about the price of the Certificate of Entitlement (COE).
