Toilets to be a must at NH fuel stations

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Soon, petrol pumps along national highways (NHs) would have to ensure proper facilities for road users including toilets and drinking water. Access to those petrol pumps found to be lacking such facilities will be be blocked.

The highways ministry is likely to issue the order next month when it holds a round of discussion with pump owners and oil companies.

Good news. Hope they get executed too. Such facilities in the fuel bunks will really be a boon for travelers, esp with the on board ladies.

This is good.

Some of the petrol-pump toilets that I have seen were so filthy that it made sense to do it in the open.

Hope the govt. 'defines' what constitutes a 'clean toilet' and includes maintaining the toilet clean along with the definition in the directive to the pump-owners.

Re: Toilets to be a must at NH fuel stations

Toilets and drinking water are anyway a prerequisite for establishing any petrol pump, as per the oil marketing companies. I haven't come across a single petrol pump in the last 10 years that did not have toilets and drinking water. This is a gimmick by MORTH to garner some credit and attention.

However, as SDP pointed out, the ministry has not specified or defined what constitutes a "clean" toilet, nor what should be the specifications of the drinking water available.

And did anyone say anything about the owner of the pump locking up the toilet at night and taking home the key?
