Banglore-TVM max speeds in 86 Maruti

I know this is a lil crazy, doing these speeds in an 800. The roads were good. The speeds were attained in the bangy-Hosur road, early morning on 31st.

The car did reach almost 150 at a point, and that's when the fuel was low, as we wanted to fill up at TN, i got the idea of getting the pics taken after i saw the needle reach the end of the dial. There were 2 passengers on board, and luggage, the car was stable, thanks to the Bridgestone Potenza's. But after filling up half tank, the max it went was 145. Here are the pics.

It'll cruise at 120 quite easliy... the meter is correct..... hehehe
Got a fuel average of around 17 on this trip. The trip was uneventful except for a puncture near Valayar, tires are Bridgestone Potenzas.

True, but it'll go upto 140-145 on level terrain too,got that checked on the same journey. There were three of us on board. Anyways on uphill section doing 130 with three people on board and their luggage and half tankful of fuel ain't bad

Good job. The maximum I managed was 125 kmph and it wouldn't go any further no matter how hard I tried. Eveything was stock in the car (1999 carburetted). And it was on the Delhi-Agra highway which is absolutely level.

The tires are 165/60R12 potenzas. The diameter difference is 1.01% from the normal tire.

Dude SANKAR my eyes cannot belive what they are seeing..150 kmph on the 800.And i cannot belive it even more that its an 86 model 800.Although the pictures prove it all.I have a 1998 model 800 excellent condition new clutch plates(so no quesion of slipping) carbureted and run 63000 km and even with a single person in the car the maximum i have managed to touch is 130 kmph and at that speed the car sounds like almost ready to blow. How the hell did u even manage anything above 140 dude is like a mystery. Can u please give me information regarding any modifications u have done if any or is the car stock?

What's written on the pen?

It's OCONOMOWOC Memorial Hospital, Extraordinary Care Close To Home. Hehehehe....

@JK: Seatbelts are always on. It's not a Safari, it's a traveller.

@Jay: Even i would like to take a look at your frinds 800. Mine is not modded; except a modded stock airbox, mechanically actuated secondary butterfly (not vaccum opened) & a stock silencer with center muffler removed. After i removed the center muffler i feel a slight lack of initial torque. It's free revving though.

@Mercedes: My car was saying, don't stop i like it harder push harder... seriously, the engine didn't feel as strained as you think it might be. It was all smooth, no vibration or harshness from engine or body.

These are the in gear speeds as i've found out:
1st 40kmph if raped
2nd 60kmph normally or 75ish kmph if raped
3rd 110 quite easy or 120is if given the stick
4th 145-150 as i've found out to be

Did the 140 run on ernakulam - cherthala four lane, din't take any pic as i've already had one pic. The ernakulam-cherthala road is level, except at a few places.

@Edmund: See the wipers in the pic, that's the wiper i was telling you about. It'll fit on the standard arm and is as big as newer 800's. Does a good job too.
