Uber just introduced Uber Go (Ultra cheap cabs) in Hyderabad with a launch offer of 7.5 rupees per KM. Makes it even cheaper than a meter auto. I guess it is only a launch offer and would go back to 12 rupees per KM shortly. (Swifts and Indicas)

In any case, there is no reason to depend on an auto anymore in Hyderabad.

Base Fare : 40
Plus Add Per Km : 11 (not 12)
Plus Add Per Minute : 1
And Minimum Fare : 60

A 35% inaugural discount is there so effective rates are :
Base Fare : 26
Plus Add Per Km : 7.15 (not 7.50)
Plus Add Per Minute : 0.65
And Minimum Fare : 39

UberGo is already launched in Bangalore with Indicas and Swifts.

Am yet to use the Uber service so a basic question on the above. How does the calculation work? For e.g. for a 10 km ride that took 30 mins, would it be as below?

40+
(11*10)+
(1*30)
=180

Another good thing about UberGo is that it will hopefully take some load off the UberX cars and make them easier to get.

Funnily, there was a day when I saw Black had surge pricing active, but X didn't.

I've heard that in the US, cab drivers have started what is called "Surge-hacking" or something like that. They collectively shut off their Uber service, wait till surge pricing kicks in, and then re-activate!

Even at 11 rupees per km, it is a better deal than meter auto in Hyderabad. :)

Yes. But for a short time, you will get 35% off this. So your fare would be around 117 rupees.

I guess now there is no difference among all the major players Ola,Taxi For Sure(TFS) and Uber except OLA auto in Bangalore.For short hops(5~7Kms) TFS and autos are on par with the TFS Rs 49 ride promo on .The Uber GO I have not been able to get any cabs however as mentioned their estimated pricing looks on par or lesser than autos and TFS for medium travel (10~14)

At what time did you try for one?

You will get a cab easily at 4AM. But try to get one during Saturday evening. You will find either cabs not available or a 2x surge pricing message. Even on Monday morning i got 2x surge price message. I think slowly Uber is losing its premium and reliability.

Used Uber this morning in CP. Requested for Uber Black. Got confirmation that Altis will reach in 5 minutes.

But, it was an older Corolla (not Altis). Though the car was clean and driver was courteous, I think such old cars should not be in the category of Uber Black, Uber-X is a better category for such cars.

Uber launched in Kochi. They have a promo running with the code 'UberKochiLaunch' to get 2 free rides, up to Rs. 300 each.

Just wondering how the taxi unions will react to this considering they had opposed to radio taxis earlier.
