Re: Drive without borders vs State of Jammu & Kashmir

Are there any updates regarding the introduction of a yearly tax on out of state vehicles plying in Telangana? Hopefully, besides Telangana, other states take a cue from Kerala and introduce a yearly tax. Either that or a streamlining the process of obtaining a refund from the sate where the OTT was previously paid.

Telengana RTA officials have submitted a proposal to the govt and the same will be presented in the assembly for approval during the next session.

That would be so good if every state does this. It becomes easier for people to follow. Cant some direction be sought to the states from courts?

The KA High Court has also checked with KA government if such a thing is possible. The government pleader has said that it is all left to the government and at present the Act does not have such a provision.

Will check, for I feel this appeared in a Malayalam news paper. By the way, when is the next hearing of the case? Was it to be in late October, or early November?

Waseem @SILVERWOOD, this is for the Ladakh cab union folks v/s others PIL, am I right? Nothing seems to be heard on the LTT @ KA case. The hearings should have got over by now.

Re: Drive without borders vs State of Jammu & Kashmir

Legal newbie here, but in case the PIL hearing keeps getting postponed (mean no disrespect for anyone or any institution here) through this year's season, does that mean that the interim order stands and we can 'legally' take our own bikes to Ladakh?

Planning for a month-long ride in Jul-Aug this season, and a little apprehensive since coming across this unfortunate development.
