North India suffered a massive quake today. I was driving my car at that time and guess what, I experienced nothing. I only came to know about it seeing people running out of their homes. Any explanation why cars are not much effected by quakes?

Suspension takes away lots of jerks. That said the earthquakes effect can be felt on steering. I felt it as we were driving into Srinagar when a big earthquake hit the region.

May be he drives a Hyundai. You wouldn't feel a dam thing on Hyundai's steering.😬😁

Edit : I drive one.

No, I was driving my fabia. As a side note: at least Hyundai's steering is quake proof.

If it's a strong earthquake, it might be best to come to a gentle stop away from any poles or buildings. There may even be small bridges over culverts that are hard to spot while driving, which may collapse in extreme cases.

In cities with Metro on pillars plan your drive on roads free from these definite death traps.

The Metro in Dilli swayed like a flag in wind. If the earthquake (even small one of say 2.0 magnitude) were to hit the NCR region directly, the first thing to go would be the Metro Pillars and they are all over the place.

Khoj I was in metro at that time. Was not as bad. Many low intensity quakes hit without damaging metro. And it survived Nepal quakes of last year.
And mind you richter scale is logarithmic. So 2 is not double of 1 but ten times.
