Removing the tag will mess it up. Better call the tag vendor and get its activated. You just have to generate a login and password. I have been using the ICICI fastag and so far found it better than HDFC. ICICI can be reloaded through UPI so you can recharge on the go. Just create a beneficiary shortcut on your mobile homescreen

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

I've been using the ICICI Fastag for a while now; must have done about ten transactions on it; first one being Oct '18. Just checked my statement, I haven't received cashback at all, for any transaction.

Is that normal or do I have to raise a complaint for each trip?

The cashback isn't done on a per transaction basis per se (can't be tracked at that granular level in statements), rather cashback is processed for the sum of your transactions in a month. Definitely don't need to raise one complaint per transaction!

Cashback process usually kicks in 2-3 months later, so since you haven't received it even after 6 months, probably good to raise a single complaint, maybe use the last transaction in October.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

I finally got back the money that was deducted incorrectly. Axis Bank folks were pretty helpful.

The only gripe is that Axis Bank mandates that we keep a minimum balance of Rs 150 in the account and going below that amount "blacklists" the card and it gets re-activated only when we recharge to beyond that amount.

This is the case with PayTM and ICICI as well.

So they were not enforcing it. I do think the L&O point is valid, but they can't ignore it for long.

How did you apply for the tag. Did you apply through an agent or through the online form?

I am also in a similar situation. Company Leased car in the name of the company.

I am not sure if this is relevant in this thread but definitely related to Fastags. Have a look.

Do we indeed have such a valid order?

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Fastag scanners seems to be not working in a couple of tolls in the Bangalore- Coimbatore stretch. Was let through without any scan or debit when I drove down couple of days back. Or is the reason something else?

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Fastag, is though a very good initiative, but I guess its still ages away from serving the intended purpose.

Albeit a few tolls, where I could pass through without stopping my car and driving slowly, its still very much in up-down-left-right-stop-go state. Yes, there has been a stark improvement from what I had observed last time on NH65 / NH16.

My observations :-
  • Trucks/buses, even if they have tags, do not get detected.
  • The scanner position is not suited to pick up the signals at all times
  • Handheld scanners are not available at all toll booths.

I am never against the fastags, only that it needs proper implementation with right focus.

Are you saying that some vehicles can pass without getting detected and results in an effective free passage through that toll plaza?

I recall someone has cited earlier in this same thread that the FASTag implementation is intelligent to such an extent that it can comprehend if it's a return of the same vehicle through the same toll plaza and does consider discounting the return fare automatically to provide benefit equivalent to a multi trip or return pass.

Last Sunday I was waiting at the toll plaza on Durgapur Expressway while on route to Chunchura and it was indeed annoying to wait in the usual queue while seeing FASTag lane moving way faster. I am evaluating giving a try.
