I’ve my Fastag on the extreme left corner and have never faced any issues. I was using a Paytm Fastag and recently changed that to ICICI; both worked fine at all the toll gates. Plus, our apartment has a Fastag based access control, and I've never faced issues there as well.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

After a big ordeal with the HDFC Fastag issues, I have finally gotten rid of it. My ICICI tag was delivered in under 2 days. Got the old tag removed and attached the new one. The HDFC tag was giving me nightmares. The way they were deducting money from the account when I was not traveling was unbelievable. Just before cancelling my HDFC fastag, I got 6 messages in quick succession while I was enjoying a lazy afternoon. All the messages had deductions ranging from 165 to 395 rupees. I was literally fed up of this. Has happened the 7th or 8th time. I tried reaching out their call center but as usual, there was no proper response. Went to their portal and raised a cancellation and dispute query. The total amount that was deducted was 1125. But they only gave me back 745 rupees. I was in no position to keep calling them or send emails. The wallet balance got to zero and got it cancelled. Feeling very relieved right now. Hope ICICI keeps up with their reputation.

ICICI FASTag One Wallet

ICICI FASTag provides an option called One Wallet, that is similar to PayTM.
Attaching the details about One Wallet from ICICI
FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!-screenshot-20240419-9.33.528239pm.png

As per their guide, "Once you opt for One Wallet, then there will be one single transacting wallet that will be shared amongst the different tags/vehicles." Members with multiple cars and having ICICI FASTag for all their cars under the same customer ID would be able to benefit from this feature. Has anyone tried / using this ?
I have seen messages in the forum, that members had difficulty in applying for additional ICICI FASTag under their existing customer ID, if that has been fixed - they can benefit from the One Wallet.

Below conditions needs to be fulfilled for enabling One Wallet

Hope this One wallet reduces hassles of recharging multiple tags.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Just dropping in to rant a bit about my experience with IDBI FASTag on my XUV700. Funny story, I didn't even pick IDBI on purpose; it was the only tag my dealer had when I was picking up my new ride, and I was too excited about a road trip to fuss over choices.

Now, I've used Paytm FASTag on another car and it was as smooth as butter. IDBI, on the other hand, is a whole different ball game. The app feels like it’s stuck in the Stone Age! Want a detailed statement? Prepare to wait for an email that never comes because, oops, your email isn't linked. And no, you can’t just update your email in the app. Auto-recharge? Dream on.

But hey, I thought, it’s a bank, right? Should be reliable and their customer service just a call away. Oh, how naive I was! Recently, I spotted a weird 35-buck transaction labeled "ECGS Settlement for," and down the rabbit hole I went. Emailed them on April 21, got a "we’ll look into it" the next day, and then... crickets. After enough radio silence to start a ghost town, I called their customer care—twice! Each call played out like a broken record: "Our systems are down, we’ll call you back in 30 minutes." Guess how many callbacks I got? If you guessed zero, you’d be spot on.

Frustrated, I asked to close my account and get a refund, only to be told I’d have to visit a bank and fill out forms like it's 1999 or something.

Hi Team-BHPians,

I received SMS saying that my ICICI Bank FASTag for vehicle no. hotlisted. It will be closed in 120 days from purchase date. Upload RC at <provided URL>.

Did anyone received similar message in the past? How did you manage to solve this problem?
Do I need to upload RC to save my FASTag from getting hotlisted?

Thanks!

Looks like a phishing link, I would suggest logging into icici fastag portal and check there, DO NOT click the links in sms or whatsapp unless you know they are genuine, even though they are from known contacts. Even if you need to upload RC or any other documents do it only from fastag portal, not anywhere else.

Hi, its not a phishing link. Only those who have paid and taken the Fastag without uploading the RC at the time of tag purchase will receive this link.

I agree that it is always better to log in directly to the ICICI Fastag website and upload the RC there.

I however followed the link received via SMS and it turned out to be a genuine and secure site of ICICI. Hence, it is better to verify before you enter any sensitive information.

Cheers

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Folks, I have a query on a weird situation and I am not clear what to do. Hence sharing for some advice or at least some other perspective from fellow Bhpians.

I have a ICICI Fastag on my car since Mar 2019 and has been working alright. Last month on 20th April, Saturday afternoon, I got a message in the afternoon stating Rs. 130 deduction in a Toll Booth in Pullur, Andhra Pradesh. All this while I was in Bangalore and the car was with me at home. On the lighter side, there was no way my car could have been airlifted to this toll booth without passing any on the way and back.

Next Monday I raised a complaint with ICICI Fastag portal and also called them. By the way, getting through to their Fastag Helpline is more difficult than getting through to perhaps even the worst of the govt. helplines that exist. Each time the call took over 10 mins of waiting on IVR to connect and once it got disconnected after I had narrated the whole story. Anyway, the complaint was registered and was acknowledged by the Agent on the toll-free number. I could see a Chargeback request raised on the portal.

Around 10th of this month, when I checked, the message on the portal said that the chargeback request has been rejected by the receiving bank or something.

I called them again and narrated the whole situation and the complaint was reopened. I could see the chargeback again reflecting as "in-progress". Last week, I saw the same rejected again. There are no attachments and no video grabs either. I then sent a mail to all the officers in ICICI Bank listed under Fastag-NPCI and detailed the incident. Over a week and no response. Today I followed up again with another mail and am yet to get a response.

In the meantime, I have transferred all the balance in this specific Fastag (except minimum necessary) to another Fastag I have for another car with ICICI Bank to avoid any misuse.

I am wondering if I should cancel this specific Fastag and get a HDFC Fastag as I am worried if this one is being cloned and misused by someone somewhere. Also the poor customer support of ICICI Bank is a shocker. I am glad I do not have any accounts with them.

Have any of you faced these kind of situation with ICICI Bank and what has been your experience?

Also any guidance, advice or suggestions (even a rant of your own is fine) are welcome.

That’s a lot of work and grief for INR 130 Naresh. I would cancel this ICICI Fastag, get any other one and forget the 130 bucks

Indeed. And totally agree. My effort was to find out what happened before I junk this one. But seems like it is a fruitless waste. I shall follow your guidance 😊.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Freak Fast Tag Incident

I took a bus to Kannur from Bangalore on 14th June to pick up my buddy (VW Vento TDI) from service. Being a Bangalore resident, you might wonder why I would send my car for service in Kannur. It’s a long story which I’ll briefly discuss in my next travelogue.

Background - My windscreen developed a hairline crack a few months back while I was driving home from my native Nagercoil. This is the second similar incident that happened while I was passing through Aralvaimozhi, a surrounding area known for its windmills, so it’s obviously quite windy. The first incident happened exactly at the same location during 2017, possibly due to sharp flying objects.

Anyway, back to the Fast Tag issue. As the vehicle was already at the service center, I took this opportunity to replace the windscreen. However, the original Fast Tag couldn’t be removed and reattached, so I applied for a replacement Fast Tag from ICICI, and it was delivered within 4 days, it was quick.

Here comes the surprise – As the bus was approaching Caltex junction (Kannur), I saw some SMS messages from ICICI Fast Tag. Initially, I ignored them, assuming they were ads, but a few minutes later, I opened the messages and saw a deduction of Rs. 160 at the below toll booth.

"Rs.160 paid at Gananguru Toll Plaza for XXXX on 15-06-2024 01:12:56 with ICICI Bank FASTag. Bal Rs.X. Call 18002100104 for dispute."

I couldn’t immediately recognize which toll booth it was, and for a moment, I thought the service technician might have gone for a test drive, but the time was 1:12 am—who would do a test drive at 1 am? I suspected something fishy and thought of calling the ICICI help desk. Meanwhile, my son found out that this is the toll booth on the Mysore Expressway closer to the Mysore end.

I was still thinking whether someone had peeled off the old tag from the cracked windscreen and was using it somewhere else, but I knew for sure the old tag was deactivated when the new tag was reissued.

Eureka moment, but it took time.

Oh well, I told myself, “Don’t you remember you got a new active Fast Tag? You took it out from the cover and kept it inside the top section of the laptop bag.” Oh my god. Now I remember, it was a sleeper bus, I was in the last lower berth, and my laptop bag was facing outside, leaning on the glass window. Very well, the tag got scanned while the bus passed through the Gananguru Toll Plaza.

I’m wondering, how sensitive are these scanners? There were instances when even moving the car closer to the scanner wouldn’t scan, and the person managing the booth had to do it manually, but on the contrary, the scanner picked up the tag that was kept inside a laptop bag on a moving bus, and I had to pay Rs. 160 unnecessarily.

Key takeaway: In case you are on a similar trip, ensure to keep the Fast Tag in your check-in baggage and place it at the bottom of the suitcase or bag. Hopefully, it won’t get scanned.

I had the tag in my laptop bag inside car boot. Toll got deducted when I passed via Mysuru road toll from both tags, one PayTM fastag which was on windshield, ready to be replaced after the trip and ICICI tag in the bag (got it as RBI cancelled PayTM license).
I shared screenshot of double deduction whle complaining and after 2nd follow up, money got refunded. ICICI tag had only 200 so toll got deducted at one toll.

I had posted it here.

NHAI announces new guidelines for double toll fee on non-FASTag vehicles.

Vehicles with improperly affixed FASTags are not permitted to use Electronic Toll collection (ETC)systems and will face double toll fees, alongside the possibility of being blacklisted
