(In between I got several phone calls & emails from various people like the toll booth in-charge, NHAI officials and ICICI staff).

Same has happened with me 3 months back. I had raised a grievance on that, and it is still under progress. I returned withing 2 hours and still I was charged 85/- both ways.

Hi, maybe I wasn't clear - instead of the return (i.e. 2 way) charges of 125, I was charged 85 bucks which is the HYD-Hebbal charge.

I should have been charged 125 bucks as I came out of KIAL.

Ok got you. In that case, with the Fastag it always charges 85/- when you come out of KIAL. I have been couple of times and I was charged 85/- only, might be it's been configured that way.

Haha, then that is incorrect configuration. I was earlier charged 120 (the older rate) throughout 2016 (I am a masochistic early adopter :0)) and this 85 bucks tamasha started lately.

They have credited back the extra deduction. Not sure if this was based on the ticket raised or they did it automatically.

Looks like more features are getting rolled out, and they all primarily rely on RFID.
New toll system for expressways soon

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

I had raised a complaint in PG portal about a month back about the BIAL toll not working or all other users entering the lane and this is the response i got from NHAI. It looks like they are supporting toll companies than users. Even yesterday the Fastag lane did not work at airport .This toll is probably the worst i have come across.

Morons don't even know the difference between "Closure" and "Closer".
From KIAL you can get into any lane marked as ETC/ Fastag and ask them to scan your Fastag. The attendant may crib, but will do it.

This beats the whole point of using the tag, will have to deal with queues.

Fastag doesn't help when there are long lines even if there are dedicated lanes. Experienced this in Krishnagiri (queue was 500 mts long, took 30 mins) and Thoppur (took 15 mins). Was able to get into fastag lane finally and that lane moved faster than others. High time NHAI takes fastag seriously and popularize it. Benefit of good highways is lost waiting in toll booths.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Hello Folks
I am going to embark on first trip after getting fast tag tomorrow (25th May, Thursday)
I am driving from HSR, Bangalore to Pudukottai (via Trichy).
Will start between 2-3PM.

Coming back on Sunday - with morning start around 8-9AM

Need inputs on tolls until Trichy:
  1. How many tolls and which lanes (left or right) at these tolls.
  2. Fast Tag acceptance in these tolls
  3. Position of Fast Tags gates(extreme left or extreme right)

Any tips/hacks being a fast tag user would also help.

I will post my experience after the trip
