No-Honking days in India

I do not how this piece of news escaped coming here.

No honking day

The traffic cops have planned this but how are they going to enforce it ? People themselves will not do. Anyone will celebrate this ?

At least I try to daily. Or keep the honking to 4-5 honks per day.

Nice. I'm going to celebrate Mumbai's no-honking day by creating a lot of sound in Bangalore. Inside a pub.

In all my driving/riding to and from work i ensure my horns are limited to unless absolutely necessary/or i lose my temper.

Can proudly say its just around 1-2 per trip.

It becomes very difficult not to honk in Mumbai with these idiot, taxis and autos being all over the road. I use flashes and if necessary then honk.

No honking is dangerous. Many people just walk onto the highway, unless you honk at them.
Also many bikers and car guys do not use rearview mirrors(they don't have any for the former) and take honk as a cue to something is there. No honk means road is clear and they can change lanes without looking back.

bikers without RVMs and car dudes with ORVM closed and sunshade in rear windscreen are signs of trouble.

More so for bikers like me, who zip in and out of traffic much more than you'd do

So sorry, no "No Honk Day" for me. I've had battery induced no honk weeks, and those were heavily traumatic and painfully slow

the high beam thing is getting out of hand.. I dont know about other cities but 95% of the cars / bikes in chennai are always using high beam and when u dim/dip asking them to reduce to low beam they dont even bother lowering it.. they just DIM/DIP back to highbeam.. MOFOS!! I feel like killing them.

So no one is going to honk in Mumbai even if NC has a sticker on the back of his car saying "Honk if you're Horny!!"

What is a horn?

Dear BHP'ins... Did not know I will get such a chance to talk about my bike so soon... If you can look at my profile...u will see a Enfield Taurus Diesel... There is no battery... just a wire out of my flywheel magnet to a small capacitor and 2 wires to a headlight and 1 red light... i have no other electricals(no indicators too..sorry) in my bike and have been riding in INDIA...BANGALORE...City, highway etc etc...without a horn for 2 years and 6 months..(Since 5th oct 2005)... never even went close to banging any pup or a human all these days.... just keep ur eyes open... ears open... hands and legs on the brake pedals... and remember to reach in 1 piece...do not overspeed

why cant every one take up this as a challenge for 1 day... probably it makes sense to call ourselves BHP'ians and make a diff to our society....!!!
