Hello,

I came across this article online about traffic robot installed at a junction in Indore, quite a curiosity, and a new idea, wonder how it will work out. It is costing approximately 20 lakhs.

Thread moved from the Assembly Line to the Street Experiences Section. Thanks for sharing!

From the video it looks like it is just a rotating traffic light. Not sure if it really offers any real benefit over the standard traffic light

Is it actually replicating a traditional traffic personal with that stop board in hand? Sure is catchy but 20 lakhs is lot of money also. Not sure how much a typical traffic junction system costs, my guess won't me more than couple of lakhs??

 Oh God! What were the designer & fabricator smoking! I honestly hope they didn't have this in mind when they started off !

What can I say, Good luck staring at the crotch of that weird thing to check the countdown.

P.S : Honestly, a bunch of engineering students would've done a better job.

Total whack job and does not do any value addition. It is no better than a conventional signal light which was at least cost effective. Once this thing goes kaput, it will be an eyesore.

Given there are strict rules and guidelines around how Number plates need to be or how aux-lights needs to be installed (and ignore how strictly it is implemented), is there not a guideline on how a traffic signal should be?

This looks like one big joke which will be a 2-day tourist attraction. Will cause more traffic jams than address any traffic problems, by the looks of it.

Should this not also be on our "Wierd and Wacky Mod Jobs" thread?
