Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

IRCON International and Agroh Infrastructure Developers on Friday emerged as the lowest bidders for packages 14 and 15 (Shirsad – Akoli – Amne) of the 1350 km Delhi – Mumbai Expressway (DME) project‘s JNPT Spur. Now only one JNPT spur Package 18 (15 km) – Km 79.780 to Km 94.290 is pending in DPR status.

Once completed it will be the fastest completed expressway project in India. Several spurs will be added to the expressway in the future.

See the construction update status at https://themetrorailguy.com/nhai-del...te-map-status/

For the members more interested in detailed Government status update, please see the report at the NHAI site. https://nhai.gov.in/nhai/sites/defau...port%20v01.pdf

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

Can someone (who lives nearby or who has info on updates) please start a new thread on the Central Vista project in Delhi? I think it deserves a thread of it's own.

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

One selfish question.

Does anyone know if these expressways will permit motorbikes / two wheelers to ply on them. The Mumbai Pune is the only expressway that ridiculously does not allow this. I really hope so.

Currently its quite a task to ride up to the north from Mumbai etc. Having access to this expressway will improve the travel time significantly.

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

This thread has been silent for some time now. So, bumping this up with some recent updates on the expressway's construction progress. Also adding some pictures I found on Twitter.

1.) Delhi - Jaipur stretch to be inaugurated by December 2022.
2.) Jaipur-Vadodara stretch to be opened by mid-2023.
3.) Next to no work done in Maharashtra due to a litany of issues on the ground.
4.) According to insiders, the Maharashtra stretch is unlikely to be completed before 2026/2027 at the current pace of work and support from the state government.

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

Does anybody have an update whether the Sohna to Dausa stretch(for those going from Delhi to Jaipur) is open now?

It would make it so much easier to drive to Jaipur as the present highway being used is full of traffic jams and craters and takes 5.5-6 hours to Jaipur with a brief but much needed break. I saw somebody's update on the web about a month ago saying that the highway is ready to drive on from Sohna although they did not go too far on it.

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

Sohna to Dausa will open se time in Jan, I think they might open immediately before or after Republic day.
Work in Rajasthan from Dausa till MP border is about 50% done on an average till 10th December.
All civil work within MP is 100% done as per Dec 10th update.
Gujarat packages are all WIP but 20-30% done on average.
Maharashtra packages are all awarded except one and work started on a few. I think Gujarat-Maharashtra section will take at least 15-18 more months.

I am hoping that Rajasthan packages get completed in a few months so that DL-HR-RJ-MP route is fully opened by summer of 2023 followed by section till Vadodara by end of 2023.

I wish NHAI publishes a simple report every month. The columns needed are similar...
- Which highway/expressway
- Which package and from/to distance markers
- Awarded to, and when
- Original date for completion
- Current status
- Current progress (the %)
- Estimated date of readiness
- Key Challenges remaining to be overcome (land acquisition, specific approvals, etc)
- Estimated date for inauguration
- Date last updated

Project value, money spent so far, estimated budget required for completion, cost over run, are all additional optional details.

If this progress report is published in the public domain, NHAI will bring so much transparency - I wish our proactive minister Mr Nitin Gadkari gets this dashboard implemented... I am sure he consumes one such report - he just needs to get someone to publish it...

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

NHAI used to publish pdf report for status, but are not consistent in making is easily accessible from search engines. Here is a private data wrapper on top of the report which provides package wise status.

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

In selfish interest, does anyone have a map of the Delhi-Dausa section of this highway? I've looked through available info on web and it's at variance with what got published a few times in Rajasthan based papers if I recall correctly.

My understanding is the highway will have a spur (chainage) branching off at Bandikui for Jaipur. The land acquisition for this is not complete and I saw an ad in 2022 in the local paper, also the villagers opposing the compensation amount. So till that stretch is done the delhi-jaipur route becomes Sohna-mewat-dausa-jaipur with the last bit on the existing dausa-jaipur highway. This would be very long unless the map shows the highway would cross the Agra Jaipur highway west of Dausa somewhere.

Providing link to the home page of DME on NHAI website. We can check alignment maps and monthly status of all packages here. Scroll down to bottom to see status update files. Expecting next one to be uploaded in couple of weeks.

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

The Sohna (near Gurgaon) to Dausa (near Jaipur) section of the DME (Delhi Mumbai Expressway) is expected to open on 12th Feb.
Speed Limit will be 120 kmph, so one can cover the 214 kms stretch in 2 to 3 hours.

Some folks have managed to drive on it already, as shared in the comments on this Twitter post & on some other pages/YT videos.

Sahil is quite accurate with his information, so I am believing him here on this tweet on the opening dates. Surprised to have not read anything in press yet.

https://twitter.com/Sahilinfra2/stat...79688093388800

I don't think it changes the journey for those travelling to Udaipur just yet (using a cursory search on Google Maps), but as the sections open up, I will be glad if even the Baroda to Sohna section opens up first. That itself will allow for 1 day travel between Mumbai & Delhi (though it will be a bit of a stretch)

Can't wait!

Re: Delhi-Mumbai expressway to reduce travel time by 12 hours

The expressway is not up and running on Google Maps as yet. Sohna to Dausa, it is still showing the old highway routes - NH48 through Manesar, Behror, Kotputli and the old direct route via Alwar. No expressway.
