Mahindra Glyd: Uber-like service launched in Mumbai

Mahindra has launched Glyd, a tech-based e-mobility service on select routes in Mumbai. As part of this service, the company has deployed the first batch of 10 Mahindra e-Verito electric sedans. Glyd e-cabs can be booked via Android and iOS apps.

Glyd is aimed at office-going executives and will offer several connected car features such as web-conferencing, curated entertainment and music content. The cars will also be equipped with a privacy screen, air purifier, strain free lighting, bolstered seats, wraparound headrests and armrests.

Glyd has partnered with Vodafone-Idea Limited, Cisco Systems Limited and other services and content providers.

100 bucks says this service will find no takers and will be shut down in a year. Maximum 2. At best, this is just to generate some positive press off their electric offerings.

Has Mahindra gone mad? Why would anyone opt for this over the more widely available Uber & Ola cabs?

Agreed.

A better choice for Mahindra would have been to target tech and IT companies who like to show eco-friendly options in their company fleet. This is the only working use case scenario of electric cabs that I've seen till date.

Well it might help Mahindra with some sales figures on VERITOs.

I uploaded the app yday & since then I am waiting for OTP to confirm my details. I think something is 'BROKEN'. Anyone from Mahindra is listening???

Trust they are towing the policy guidelines for an all electric mobility by 2030. This target is as unrealistic as is Mahindra's Glyd concept which may crashland, seeing the impractical finer details.

Sure it is destined to crashland also, as there is no "O" or "0" in the name as a suffix, a first deviation from its usual practice by Mahindra over the years.

It should have preferably been GlydO.

Exactly why I say that car companies will never succeed in lean & fast businesses. It's not in their DNA. Try visiting the other Mahindra initiative - www.m2all.com - that website is a usability disaster . E.g. click "buy now" here and observe how nothing happens!

m2mall - Been there, Done that, Burnt nothing because nothing would move ahead. Wanted to buy a SPOILER for my TUV.

Glyd: Well I received barrage of OTP's around 2300 hours and succeeded in registration.
Now the fun part, I work in Lower Parel area and anyone who knows Mumbai, knows that LP it is a major corporate hub. So about an hour ago, I tried finding a ride & to my surprise, nothing is available on Glyd.
Nothing means NOTHING, but they have promised to GET BACK to ME.
