There are many opinions that none of these sites are working efficiently and effectively. Hence, If our Mods work on creating a page where a simple UI to collect source, destination and provide number of tolls, cost, distance, etc, - This will definitely be most visited page by members/ non members

Mods: Please suggest if we can work on this feature and incorporate into our premier site

Re: Full Data - Toll on National Highways (rates, road length, cost per km etc.)

What a comprehensive insight this provides on this toll mafia!

Looks like a typo for Tamil Nadu, Pamban bridge. Two way is more than the one way.

Over all perception on the quality of roads, services promised vs delivered is completely off.

For some reason God only knows why, for the last 30 years or so toll is being collected in the Chennai - Viluppuram stretch. I used to wonder, is it really that the maintenance of roads costs as much as that of making new roads? The rate of toll should be less once it reaches certain years especially the ROI expected from this stretch is reached. But still we pay more for 2 track roads (in one side still!) which is of very poor quality in many stretches, unsafe bends, poor lighting conditions, "hidden in the bend" crossings, over all it is a safety galore in this stretch.

The best toll road to me is the Trichy - Tanjore stretch of around 55 kms. It takes 45 minutes or less depends on the car you have to cross this distance. Previously this distance usually required at least an hour and a bit more.

Re: Full Data - Toll on National Highways (rates, road length, cost per km etc.)

Hello everyone, I have a query.

For a Tempo Traveller (11 seater), will the toll be collected under the category "Car / Jeep / Van" or will it be under "Bus 2 axle"? or under 'Light Commercial Vehicle"?

Driving on national highways could become expensive from 1st April.

Travelling on national highways could become a little more expensive from April 1 this year. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is set to increase toll rates by 5 per cent. At the same time, the monthly pass can also be increased from 10 to 20 rupees.

NHAI increases toll tax every financial year. The increase in toll tax after the FASTAG imperative will increase the burden on the common people along with the transporters.

According to reports, at least three toll plazas in Gorakhpur are expected to hike from 5 to 30 rupees. A departmental officer is expected to send a proposal regarding the increase on the basis of toll collection of Nayansar, Tenua and Sherpur Chamarah. Along with this, regular commuters too is likely to face the burden of increased toll. It is believed that the monthly toll may also increase by 10 to 20 rupees.

Project director CM Dwivedi of NHAI Gorakhpur zone says that toll tax increases every financial year. The new rates will be applicable from 1st April. The proposal for increase is being sent to the headquarters.

While the FASTag electronic toll collection system promises to reduce waiting time at toll plazas drastically, it is also expected to bring down fuel consumption to a large extent. Recently, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had estimated that India will save around ₹20,000 crore every year on petrol and diesel if all the vehicles start using FASTags for travel on national highways.

"Making FASTags mandatory for highway users for collection of electronic toll has significantly reduced delays at toll plazas. This will result in a significant saving to the tune of ₹20,000 crore per annum on fuel cost," Gadkari was quoted by news agency PTI.

FASTags were made compulsory for all vehicles to pay user fee at national highway toll plazas from February 16. Since then, toll collection through electronic mode has witnessed manifold growth. According to the NHAI, FASTags have helped its daily toll collection shoot up to ₹104 crore.

Re: Full Data - Toll on National Highways (rates, road length, cost per km etc.)

How does the India Asset Monetization plan to be rolled out by our venerable leaders going to affect Tollways?

As I understand, India Roadways Asset Monetization plan (IRAMP) is an important part of IAMP, and should provide 30K Cr to 1L Cr depending on who you talk to.

Public can buy roadways owned by the govt by 3 methods.
- Toll, operate and transfer TOT model
- Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvIT) and Real estate investment trusts (RevIT)
- Hybrid annuity model

TOT model is where investors make a one-time lump-sum payment in return for toll collection rights of 15 to 30 years under this model. Govt owned roads which are functioning for at least 1 year can be bought by the public under this model.

REIT and InvIT are collective investment schemes similar to a mutual fund, which enables direct investment of money from individual and institutional investors in infrastructure projects to earn a small portion of income as return. A group of citizens can collect money and buy a govt owned road,

HAMis where toll fee from the highways projects is collected by the Government/Authority sanctioning the project. The govt also pays for 40% of the road development. The remaining 60% of the investment is done by citizens. They may not get any returns other than the feel good factor of ownership.

This will be good. May I add that accident hotspots also be added to if this is implemented. It will be great if we can have maps show not only the toll data but also the accident hotspots.

While tolls in Chennai are removed, NHAI hikes fee by 4 to 10% at 21 toll plazas. This was really not expected now.

With the already high fuel costs, this is going to add to the misery.

Re: Full Data - Toll on National Highways (rates, road length, cost per km etc.)

I am astounded by the level of this harmful policy and pricing. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) that is constructing India’s longest access-controlled expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur, the distance being 701 km has proposed a toll of Rs 1,212 as one-way for light motor vehicles like cars and jeep. The toll will be charged on the basis of the km one wants to travel. For instance, if someone is travelling between Mumbai and Nashik or Aurangabad, vehicles will be charged Rs 1.73 per km.

According to the toll rates list, the second category is light commercial vehicle, light goods vehicle or mini bus for which the one-way toll between Mumbai and Nagpur will be Rs 2.79 per km, which tallies down to Rs 1,955. The third category is bus or truck (two axle) for which Rs 5.85 per km will be charged, summing up to Rs 4,100. The remaining three categories are heavy vehicles that includes three axle commercial vehicles for which Rs 6.38 per km or Rs 4,472, followed by Rs 9.18 per km or Rs 6,435 will be charged for mobilising of heavy construction machinery. The last category is of over sized vehicles or multi axles (seven or more axles), the toll per km is Rs 11.17 which essentially means Rs 7,830 between Mumbai and Nagpur.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/citie...521351153.html

For cars this will come down to Toll : Rs 1212
Petrol : @ Rs 110*Average@15kmpl i.e. Rs 5000+
Diesel : @ Rs 94*Average@20kmpl i.e. Rs 3000+

Total: For petrol :Rs 6000+
For diesel :Rs 4500+
I don't want to calculate the absurd cost that commercial vehicles of different types will have to incur and the effects of it on inflation again borne by commoners.

Why do we even pay Road taxes?
