According to redBus, Bike pool is aimed at working professionals. The app connects ride givers and ride takers and uses an algorithm that is said to ensure that ride givers don't have to deviate from their daily work route and ride takers get to travel the maximum distance of their commute.

The rPool app is claimed to be safe, secure and private and has verified profiles of riders. It has an in-app chat feature.

The services offers incentives ranging from Rs. 1-4 per km for offering riders. Ride givers can also earn double the rate for the first 10 rides. As part of the inaugural offer, the first 500 ride givers in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune will not be charged a commission for the first 5 years.

Re: redBus introduces bike pooling services through rPool

On one hand, multiple Govt. and Police Dept. across the country are giving statements that car/bike-pooling apps such as Quickride and BlaBlaCar are illegal. On the other, the number of such services are going up by the day.

What exactly is the official stance?! If they are indeed illegal, why does the Govt. allow these business to register?!

Given the lousy public transport and traffic in most cities, professionals see tremendous value in using these apps, and it helps that there are multiple providers. But the Govt. isn't really making life simple.
