Ola's cab services are have resumed in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Delhi, Faridabad, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mysore, Patiala, Sonipat and Tiruchirapalli. The company has restarted operations in over 160 cities in Karnataka, Telangana, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Assam.

Uber has also resumed operations in Delhi, Bangalore and Chandigarh. Except for Red zones, both companies are operating in Orange and Green zone areas.

It has been reported that Ola and Uber cabs will be sanitized after trips and social distancing norms will be followed. Drivers will also wear masks at all times.

According to Ola, the air-conditioning in the cabs will be switched off and windows will be kept open as a precautionary measure. Uber riders will have the option of switching the air-conditioning on.

They should make these partitions standard for now. Won't even cost all that much (especially if one considers the loss of business due to virus fear).

Here in Singapore, public transport and taxi services were never stopped, but you book a ride-sharing service (say Uber) and you are without a mask, the driver can refuse the ride.

If people follow mask usage diligently, that alone will help in a big way. And also probably remove cash options for the ride.

Re: Ola, Uber resume operations in more cities

I am not sure this is a good idea of allowing cabs & autos. This morning when walking I saw about 5 drivers huddled together. 4 without any mask or covering and one with the mask hanging around his neck.

No point in having partitions if the drivers don't follow basic precautions!

I personally have deleted the apps for now and would avoid them for the time being.

Here is an improvised (cheap) version of the above . This is a good example of a quick (& dirty) 'Function over form'. I hope this gets installed on all cabs. I guess they will also replace this often. A good initiative though.
