Nice thought.
But again it has certain lead time to raise a dispute. Also all banks are not so co-operative in settlement of dipsutes. Had good experience for self in such cases with ICICI and HDFC.
Anyways, It is worth giving a try.

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

Zoom car in the initial years was very good. It made good sense for me to hire a hire for the duration of my leave in Bangalore. The last experience of mine was bitter with them in terms of quality of vehicle given to me. I did ignore it as a one of case. Then for strange reasons known only to them they changed their policy of accepting International driving permits. So that ended my association with them. Ever since it’s been a hassle for a vehicle to use when ever I am in Bangalore. A couple of friends were very generous in offering their cars. I am now in a fix debating whether to buy a car in India but then using it for 3 weeks in a year and leaving idle for the rest of the year doesn’t make sense. Any ideas on how to circumvent this situation is welcome.

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

My experience with Zoomcar have been OK so far. They’ve always been courteous and on time. Though the quality of the maintenance of the vehicles have gone down in recent years still they are fairly drivable. In past however I have never had any issues with payment refunds. This is the first time I’m experiencing such issue. I had my booking in June in Delhi.
It is understood that this might be due to ongoing crunch of funds after COVID-19 crisis and honestly I still believe they’ll refund customer dues once their economic condition /COVID scenario improves. Just my thoughts..!!

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

Zoom car has always been fishy in their dealings.
Though many have had very good experiences with them, I never had.
Revv has been far better in providing me newer vehicles & cleaner vehicles. A bit off topic to start with but now with this kind of hire n drive model not working anymore due to this pandemic, can we see more private cars?

I think you might have heard this advice before but how about a cheap yet likeable pre-owned car that could come to use in your friends’ garages while you’re abroad?

I suggest the above because a cheaper car will have cheaper insurance and maintenance (not a cheap luxury) and your friends might use it once a while to keep it in good health.

Why not use Uber/Ola? Or hire a dedicated car from a known neighbourhood cab company (your friends could probably help) if you forsee a long travel day/multiple hops/odd hours/outstation trips.

Managing service, insurance, PUC, cleaning, fuel, fastag etc for a car being out of the country is definitely not going to be easy. And if you end up taking care of these chores while on your 3 week trip to India, that would be counter intuitive IMO.

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

Hi Everyone,

I have only fleetingly seen GTO's thread and this one, and was prompted to share my experience. Having not read through all the shared experiences above, I would like to share at the offset, mine is a positive one atleast with Zoomcar.

I had planned for a Dev Bhumi (Kedarnath - Badrinath) trip in April end - May with my family.
I have been to the general Chopta-Auli region in Jan-Feb 2018 in my Fiesta. So I am familiar with the roads and terrain, since I was taking my parents this time, I wanted to hire a larger car.
I had booked for a Marazzo for a 11 day trip starting April 30 on 16th of Feb at nearly 50pc discount of the normal rate.
Being stupidly positive of the corona outcome then, I cancelled the trip at the very last moment on 25th of April and the complete amount was received after a 200 INR deduction on 28th of April in my account. So I am happy with Zoomcar, despite the lousy cleaning and maintenance job they do on their cars. This would have been my third instance of availing [Ecosport, Scorpio] their services in 6 years.
Remember the flight tickets I was talking about earlier, yes those are still pending from Ixigo and Air India. So if anybody has a thread about flight tickets withheld during the pandemic, someone please direct me to that thread.

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

With everyone raising their concerns about refunds not being initiated and withheld,
It seems like that the comany is in sheer shortage of funds and are unable to refund your money.

They might be bankrupt in a few months or so if there is such a number of non refund issues. Is there any update about the fianacial status of Zoomcar in the past that is alarming or still a silent problem prevailing?

Local commuting is definitely Uber/Ola as lot socialising is involved. Have just read about Revv cars offering a monthly subscription now. Need to check that out

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

This is very unethical from Zoomcar considering I've had positive experiences with them.

Had hired for the 4th time on my Jaipur Jaisalmer trip in the last week of February a couple of weeks before lockdown. Although my booking was changed to Creta MT from Creta AT, they did credit the extra kilometers and being a returning customer I had no deposit requirements to make a booking. Never faced any issues with the car breaking down or even a puncture on my Zoomcar trips but I may have been simply lucky looking at so many negative experiences here.

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

Off Topic,

It seems Spicejet is doing something like Zoom Car. Following tweeter post of their is full of customer complain about how Spicejet is not refunding full ticket price for Govt ordered lockdown cancellation !!

Shouldn't a customer receive full refund?

Well , not just spice jet, but almost all airlines. At the risk of going OT, we need a thread similar to this one, for the Airlines. I am still trying to get my money back from GoAir and Air Asia.

By way of an update, I'm happy to report that I just got my entire refund credited to my account. Big sigh of relief. Mounting pressure through a legal notice, a cyber complaint, and a consumer complaint helped set the ball rolling. Needless to say, I've had enough of Zoomcar and have thanked them by immediately uninstalling the app from my phone. Good riddance!

Re: Zoom Car Fraud: Not returning deposits & not facilitating refunds

I have raised a complaint with cyber cell wing of Hyderabad Police. Intially they asked me to lodge a complaint in local police station but eventually they started the investigation. However, there are no zoom car phone numbers available for to be contacted. Even customer care number is not going through. They said they will handle it, keeping fingers crossed.

They said , so far, no one has complained to them about zoom car fraud. If only more people come forward and raise complaints then these corporates will not be cheating people like this.
