Does the Police care for the common citizens?

Hi,

I had been to a Bday party in churchgate on saturday. The place was full of people even at 2 AM with nice cars and beautifuls babes around....I Was near the bade miyas when a police Patrol came and started accelerating rashly...there was a Avenger guy who was trying to park his bike at a road side along with a few other cars, the jeep did not stop at all and hit the biker, although the jeep slowed down but did not stop and did hit the biker again and again until the biker was off the jeeps track...the local there said that this is how the police vacates the area everynight by hitting the cars and bikers with its official vehicles...my point is shouldn't they follow the rule and vacate the ares in a more professional manner like other police guys do...as in just flash the yellow light and the ares is clear...why to hit the people with the 75 HP power...?

The other good thing is that there is frequent patrolling at that hour and I was stopped by a police patrol for entering into a 1 way at 2.00 AM!!! and I paid the fine too!

well, from this, it appears to be gross abuse of power. In chennai ,if there is a party, they come in and check if all is ok. and then leave. kinda sad the stuff that is happening around the country.

Clearly there would be some VIP's residence around maybe from the home ministry dept. One could take them to the court if only they have not parked in a "NO Parking" zone.

The cops cant be blamed for doing their job, which is difficult at the best of times. But, you're right, instead of muscling down the bike, they could have hurled some expletives on the mike

Btw - by "entering into a 1-way" would you mean from the legally allowed direction or otherwise?

I have seen this here in hyderabad (Hi-Tec city) in broad daylight. Police cruiser comes and dashes their vehicle again all those autos and they run away like mad! haa haa haaaa... however it is only those unruly autos that they seem to hit. For others they just scream from their megaphones...

Usually YES, but if there is a board with "24 hr - one way" sign, then NO.

All,

This lane is behind the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai.

@ mag, by 1 way I mean I accidently entered the road which is supposed to be a 1 way and I entered from the wrong side...missed a turn and entered the wrong way early in the morning. And no it does not become 2 way road at night. The cop who caught me was honest enough and was very POLITE, however the other cop who hit the biker was very rash..and the biker was parking his bike...he was still on the bike...the jeep did hit the bike but from side way near the rear tire and no one could do anything...there were about 50 odd cars before police did this and in less then 5 mins the road was deserted...

So now the police will tell people at what time to visit which road. Is this a police state or what.
I guess archaic laws like "Roaming under suspicious circumstances" get misused so often to harass people.

Time for the Press to swing into action with a planned sting operation. Should go in with hidden cameras fitted to their vehicle and record the police action. Unprofessional, illegal, dangerous and downright stupid tactics by the police. A warning is required before they indulge in such tactics. And when a simple warning can clear off most offenders, why damage their own vehicles unnecessarily?
