Bro got a speeding ticket.....guess for doing what speeds!

Looks like the traffic officials have gone bonkers. The NH4 between Hubli and Dharwar is one among the best roads around this part of the state and yet, they've imposed a speed limit of not 100, not even 80, (at this point you might think, it's definately 60) but no.....they had to go all the way and set the limit at 40kmph!!!

So, it was yest, as we were on our way to Dandeli, a traffic cops runs onto the road (franticaly waving his arms) and asks us to pullover. We were a bit confused as we couldn't figure out what we had done wrong. Then he comes upto us and shows us an oncoming image of our car with 56kmph printed on it. We were completely zapped when we learnt about the speed limit that was set. And to make things worse, there aren't any prominent speed limit signs on the way.

We were fined 300 bucks for breaking the so called speed limit. LOL

Im not against speed limits, but i fail to see any logic behind restricting traffic to 40kmph on such a wide, well paved road.

Friggin nuts! This is clearly done just to fill the coffers of these cops. 40kmph is the speed limit in cities, not on a National Highway!

40 km/hr

are they living in the same year as we are or are at least 100 years back

man why would anybody impose 40km/hr rule on a highway

i think this what happens when we elect uneducated people to be our leaders

LOL, joke of the day. This cop would have had the sadistic pleasure of pulling over all the vehicles on that road & that includes the 18 wheelers too. Did he give you a receipt ?

Miserable.. I wonder we will all have to buy a REVA now

And since there were no signboards saying the limit was 40kmph, is there any way to counter argue??

I have driving on NH4 to Tumkur and at some places I've seen the signboards of "No Limit".. I just wonder if the traffic guys actually know what the signboard means

And to think, i once did 185kmph on the same stretch where we were caught for doing 56kmph. Haha.

Next time, i'm gonna do a bloody high speed fly by across the speed cam, come back, throw 300 bucks on their face and ask them how fast i was goin. This should give me a good idea of the cars speedo error as well. Hehe

Or better still, lets have an acc competition. To see who can hit the highest speed, starting 1km from where the cam is installed.

Who's gonna follow such an idiotic speed limit?

Yup he did, so the limit has actually been imposed. Insane!!!

I dont think the cop would risk coming on to road and try to stop cars going over 100 !! Moral of the story: Go faster

Forget that, even at 56kmph the image wasn't clear enuf to figure out the cars registration number. Beyond 100, i doubt the cam would even be able to catch the car within the frame.

BTW, i just checked on Google Earth, the highway is 11.33 meters wide.

Yes just Zooom off....40kmph is insane limit...
even I turn my car in DRDO township (there are 2 turning inside the campus) at more than 40kmph ... Cannot imagine doing that on a highway...it is too slow....

You were supposed to tow the car from behind only then you can be within limits.

I guess the cop's explanation should go to 'The Official Joke Thread'.
Sad state of affairs, i must say.
