Longest Drives!

Me & My friends did a road trip across Europe covering 7 different countries in a Volkswagen Passat suv. After 20 odd days the Final odo reading was close to 9000 kms. On one of the days we clocked 800 kms with a maximum speed of 220 kmph on Autobahn.

Just completed a drive from Chicago to Boston in a Mitsubishi Lancer, all by myself in 18 hours.

My longest drive was from Bangalore to kannur which took us 11 hrs in my Chevy beat. The extended time was due to poor road conditions at that time.

A recent Bhubaneswar to Shillong one way 1700km drive on a Mitshubishi Pajero. Passing though some of the worst roads in WB, counterbalanced by the best of NH from Bbsr - Kharagpur - Burdwan, and all the fantastic scenic route from before Guwahati - Shillong.

Just back from my longest trip till date earlier this week.

Route taken Pune-Bangalore-Tiruvilwamala-Haripad-Tiruvilwamala-Calicut-Mysore-Pune. Total of 3311 Kms in 9 days.

Maximum distance driven in one day: Mysore-Pune (891Kms) in 13.5 hrs with one stop for refueling, and two quick meal breaks.

Mine was the trip to Ladakh we did last month - 5543 km in 13 days.

The longest in a day was done in the same drive - 1035 km in 19 hours with 3 meal breaks, few stretch breaks and one 20 minute power nap. The power nap helped immensely!

My longest drive with my friends has been Delhi - Diu-gir -delhi. A total of 3200 Kms. Done in 4n5d.
Longest drive in a day was driving to Diu without any overnight stopover. Did 1500 Kms in 1 day with various tea/ meal stops.

My longest drive was 6230 Kms in 11 days covering Rajasthan. Chennai - Udaipur-Jaisalmer-Jaipur-Chennai

In India, the longest I have done was Hyd - Trivandrum - Hyd (approx 1300 one way). The onward was though split into two day (breaking at Salem), return was done without a halt (just wanted to reach home for some stupid reason). Started at 7AM from TRV and reached Hyd next day morning 4:30

I swore I will never do that again in my life..

Outside India - London to Scotland (circa 475 miles one way) - Started on a thursday night and returned the next Sunday.

My longest drive with my family will be Bangalore - Vizag.

I started at 3:00 in the morning, had 1 - 1 - 1 Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner (around 40 minutes each) breaks and 3 smaller breaks of around 15 mins each.

I reached at 10:00 PM. 19 hours in total and a distance of around 1100 KMS (one way).

While returning, started at 5:00 in the morning and reached Bangalore at 12 midnight.

A total of around 2500 KMS, both way, and I was the only one driving!

My longest drive was on last christmas, the drive of 1510 kms from New Delhi to Siliguri in West Bengal. I was the sole driver accompanied with two ladies. I took extra care not to make the ladies suffer in this ordeal, infact fun for me and which later turned out to be fun for them too.
Here goes the details:

1st Day : 26th December 2014

Started from Indirapuram in Ghaziabad at 10am and took the Moradabad-Bareilly route to reach Lucknow. Stayed overnite in Lucknow, total distance covered was 500 kms approx.

2nd Day: 27th Dec 2014

Started from Lucknow around 10am after a sumptous breakfast. The road from Lucknow to UP border near Gorakhpur was smooth with vast stretches of cemented road. Through out the road was 4 lane and the best part was minimal traffic. Did 510 kms in 8 hours, was in Muzaffarpur by 6pm. Checked-in a hotel and had dinner and slept early.

3rd Day: 28th Dec 2014

Started from Muzzafarpur around 10am and touched the outskirts of Siliguri by 5pm. The road was awesome, did not face any problem at all.

Did 1510 kms in 3 days juat because i was the sole driver with two ladies. So it was my responsibility to take extra care of them since non of us had travelled so long at a stretch.

But the experience was memorable one.

My longest drive in 24 hours is ~780kms

Bangalore - Chennai - Trichy - Pudukottai.

Day 1 evening: Bangalore to Chennai - ~320 kms.

Day 2 early morning: Chennai - Trichy - Pudukottai ~360kms

It was damn exhausting- especially after starting after a full office day!

My longest drive in 24 hours is 850 KM

Hyderabad - Bangalore - Mysore - Ooty

Started 4 AM in the morning and reached 6 PM same day (14 hours with 2 major breaks for breakfast & lunch)
