Beware of taking pics on Expressways | Girl fined 17,000 for taking pics on e-way

Beware of stopping your car on expressways to take pics. It can be hazardous to you and other users. Cops have fined this influencer Rs.17,000 for taking pics / reels on expressway once the pics were up on social media:

Quote:

The Instagram influencer was seen recording a video reel on an elevated highway in Ghaziabad’s Sahibabad area. She posted her video on Instagram and soon became viral.

UP police even released a video related to the incident and mentioned that action has been taken against the offender. Traffic police have issued a fine of Rs 17,000 on the Instagram influencer for creating inconvenience for the public on a busy highway.

Best to avoid visiting the Insta link itself to avoid giving this nincompoop 'influencer' more views, and embolden her (and other similar demented influencers / influncees) to carry out similar larks.

EDIT:
Requesting mods to remove the direct Insta link and replace with the Cartoq link.

Agree fully with this. By clicking and thereby boosting the above link ,we are giving such insta personalities a boost and 1 Lakh INR additional revenue. They all look for this "viral and negative" image, to build their fan base and increase the revenue from social media. Lets not fall for that trick and unnecessarily give a boost using TBHP member base.

I am too stubborn, headstrong and old to be influenced by these "influencers".
But I am confused.

Quote:
Traffic police have issued a fine of Rs 17,000 on the Instagram influencer for creating inconvenience for the public on a busy highway.
The vehicle is parked on the kerb side and the hazard lights are switched on. Traffic can be observed passing by unhindered.
The young lady is contorting her body, at a location which is not in the path of any oncoming traffic.
Where is the inconvenience?

Is there more to the story, than visible in the video? Perhaps there were no halting / no parking signs?

We can hate influencers all we want. But fact is that a car was parked on the side, hazards were switched on, and movement of traffic was not being impeded in any way. So, unless this incident happened in a designated no stopping zone, which it apparently didn’t, the person did nothing wrong. To me, this seems to be a case of overzealous cops with a target to meet.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this looks like a flyover/elevated road, where no vehicle is allowed to stop. The fine seems legit to me, she only has her histrionics to blame for the same.

Not sure how the rule is, but one shouldn't stop anywhere on an expressway. Only excuse is if the car has broken down (not something like running out of fuel)

Also looking at the video, it looks like a flyover or bridge. Even in the pre- expressway era, it was stated that one should not stop or overtake on a bridge.

Switching on hazards don't allow you to take law into your own hands. Hazard means risk or danger and a “hazard light” is intended to warn other motorists of impending risk or danger caused by breakdowns, punctures, accidents or similar.

An influencer using hazard lights to warn other motorists of risk or danger as she is taking a movie would be quite difficult to classify as falling under this category.

Look carefully, she’s still on the road in the left lane and to the right of the solid white line, where you are not supposed to stop. Fine is justified I believe.

Re: Beware of taking pics on Expressways | Girl fined 17,000 for taking pics on e-way

Indian cops (maybe cops all over the world) hate those who film themselves while driving / riding, or even when parked on the road (whether properly or improperly) for the sake of vlogging.

The nuisance value of these vloggers is immense, but technically they aren't breaking existing laws in most cases - or the rules they break can at most carry minor penalties. There really are no laws that say you cannot film yourself while on the road and post the same to social media!

However, once the cops get hold of the vehicle number, they pull out all stops and prosecute for Section 189 of the MV Act...
Quote:
189. Racing and trials of speed.—Whoever without the written consent of the State Government permits or takes part in a race or trial of speed of any kind between motor vehicles in any public place shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month, or with a fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.
...where they may not even be exceeding legal speed limits! Add to that Section 3 & 4 read with Section 181...
Quote:
Section 3 in The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988
3. Necessity for driving licence.—
(1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds an effective driving licence issued to him authorising him to drive the vehicle; and no person shall so drive a transport vehicle [other than 1[a motor cab or motor cycle] hired for his own use or rented under any scheme made under sub-section (2) of section 75] unless his driving licence specifically entitles him so to do.—(1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds an effective driving licence issued to him authorising him to drive the vehicle; and no person shall so drive a transport vehicle [other than 1[a motor cab or motor cycle] hired for his own use or rented under any scheme made under sub-section (2) of section 75] unless his driving licence specifically entitles him so to do."
...and the fines spiral up in leaps and bounds.

Another example of the police fining vloggers heavily is this case of a biker from a couple of days ago, to the tune of Rs.31,000, taking cognizance of offences from the same videos the biker posted. https://zeenews.india.com/auto/ghazi...0-2564536.html

Beware of taking pics on Expressways | Girl fined 17,000 for taking pics on e-way-biker.jpg

So it isn't about taking pics/videos on expressways, but about cops being vengeful towards vloggers and social media posters (who are certainly a safety hazard at times), just because the cops know that these vloggers earn big bucks.

Or maybe it is some kind of nexus between the cops and vloggers (and the local small-time media), where their being fined gives them the kind of notoriety, publicity and fame which they are looking for. Note that these fines are always after they post on social media, and not by a police patrol vehicle while they are filming.

Actually Ghaziabad police has recently become a commisionerate (after Noida), and of late, they have become very "vigil" including night marches, stopping "suspicious" people and in general random vehicle stops (but not harassment).

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...w/95798342.cms

The location in the video for sure, was the elevated Rajnagar Extension road, and that in itself, is anything but safe for "capturing the moments".

Otherwise, Ghaziabad or Noida police couldn't care less, if you are shooting videos. They are actually much friendlier than Delhi police, IF you speak to them nicely and politely. There are numerous 112 vans around, and they are usually keeping a watch, but 99% ignore people having a good time.

Talk of reels, I only remember this funny video from Durgam Cheruvu, Hyderabad.

Vigil has increased now and we don't see many such cases, but this entertainment is dearly missed!

Enjoy.

Sir - I live in this vicinity. There is NO KERBSIDE on this Elevated road. It's quite a high speed road, and there is an absolute menace of people parking their cars on the side, clicking pics and boozing. The sides of the road are littered with broken bottles and the occasional c**ms.

I am with the police on this - exemplary fines are warranted in this case.

Requesting mods to remove the direct Insta link and replace with the Cartoq link.
Even the Cartoq link has the Insta link embedded in it, so we maybe none the wiser
And on Insta, people are already chafing & mocking the incident + calling out the hefty 17k fine.

And this is not new to Ghaziabad, I believe. Almost any new road section gets built these days, "social"(..ites) are bound to follow there.

That's the point. With the current Cartoq link, TBHPians can choose to visit the Cartoq page (if they at all want to), and then again choose whether they want to click on the Insta link.

With the earlier direct Insta link, TBHPians would have straightaway provided more eyeballs to the 'influencer'.

Hence my request to the Mods, which has now been actioned .
