Here is another incident about an auto driver harrasing an Rapido Driver!

If the App is illigal why cant the Gov just block it as they did for tiktok and Aliexpress?

Why did the Auto driver take the matter into his own hands?

Auto drivers have no rules and add to that a sense of fake machismo promoted by movies stars and encouraged by local politician.

Remember an incident around 8-10 years ago. There are 100s of illegal autos running between Bommanahalli and Begur. The drivers are drunk, rash and give a hoot to any rules/regulation. After an accident, police confiscated couple of Auto and took them to Bommanahalli station. So around 400 Auto driver drove to the local MLA's house and blocked the entire road in the front of the MLA's house. The MLA had to rush back (from where ever he was) to the police station and get the auto released and case dropped.

So 400 auto drivers X 5 (may be a family of 5) = 2000 votes in a small pocket. This is power the Auto driver has, which the middle/upper middle class can only dream off.

Believe me no one has the sympathy with the auto driver, since rapido or any app wouldn't have been so successful if the Auto driver had been sincere themselves.

The second reply to the tweet is from DCP East Bangalore, posted on March 11th, confirming that the auto driver was identified and arrested already.

BTW, the auto driver is claiming that the Rapido guy is an illegal immigrant.

Looking at the auto vs bike taxi angle, an auto can carry 3, while a bike's capacity is 1. If the bike charge x, then the auto charges 4x. Are they even competing for the same customers?

At least in Bangalore, more than 90% of the Auto drivers do not want business, are always on the look out to cheat and fleece customers and make a quick buck. From personal experience, for many of these drivers, running auto is a side business. Speak to them and you will be surprised that they are involved in any and all legal and illegal schemes to make money by not working (govt freebies, ponzi schemes, illegal lending, etc). They have got their Autos through some govt schemes/ interest free loans which they never intend to pay back (sometimes encouraged not to pay back). The funny part, the moment they get new autos from such schemes, they sell all the new parts like tyres, etc and replace with old/worn-out stuff. Just because of strict implementation of SC judgement - manufacture and usage of only CNG in Autos, we see less of 'cloud generators' on the roads. The less said, the better.
