Re: Bangalore: Shoffr airport cab service; an alternative to Ola/Uber

In the recent past, have used Shoffr a couple of times to ferry my guests to the airport. They were carrying a lot of luggage, so the BYD e6 cars worked perfectly well on both occassions.

BLR airport has also started BLR pulse which lets you book cars (mostly EVs) to and from the airport. If booked in advance I found the BLR pulse fares to be the cheapest (approx 900 Rs from HSR Layout to the airport, inclusive of toll). BMTC Vayu Vajra of course is the most economical and a good option but works best if you stay close by on their route and are travelling alone.

Re: Bangalore: Shoffr airport cab service; an alternative to Ola/Uber

A friend forwarded a video on WhatsApp about a new BLR Airport taxi service with a fleet of almost 400 EV’s (cars like MG ZS and XUV 400) that was launched by the Deputy CM recently. It says these cars can be booked at T1 & T2 or also via the “refex eveelz” app at Rs.699 (fixed, no surge pricing). Honestly this sounds too good to be true, just sharing it here, I haven’t verified or used this!

Agree. Even I used BluSmart servoces for my airport trip this month. It wasn't the cleanest, but lot better than Ola/Uber. Enough space for luggage.
Chose, Ola for return trip while coming back. First thing, no space for even teo suitcase coz boot had CNG. Why Ola/Uber allows such taxi to operate for airport rides

BluSmart is bit costly but reliable and ample space for luggage. From next time, I will be avoiding Ola/Uber if better alternative available.

Re: Bangalore: Shoffr airport cab service; an alternative to Ola/Uber

I been regularly using BluSmart since past 2 years or so, initially their area of operation was limited. However, I guess now that is resolved to a large extent.

For drop to airport - Best option for me, they have a charging yard some 2 kms or so from my home, so them reaching on time is not a worry too. Costs around Rs 1200 for airport. For the same distance, Uber charges around Rs 1000 and airport cabs charge around Rs 1500

For drive around city - Difficult to get cabs due to slot system and not spot booking. However, for pre planned trips, I do book through them since don't have to worry on cancellations or wasting time just before the drive wondering when I am about to get cabs.

For airport to city - For domestic flights, able to book based on the time the flight actually starts from origin city. I keep slot timing as some 30 mins past the landing time of the flight (based on the time flight boarding got over at origin, since that will give a fairly correct estimate) For international, have tried few times without luck. The earliest slots were available only couple of hours past the time I was checking.

Overall, my experience has been good with them. Cleanliness has been majorly okay, interiors will be having dust and dirt, but vehicle overall has been clean always apart from one instance when I noticed the door panel had what looked like last nights vomit stains.

Vehicle conditions and driver behavior also is miles ahead of average Uber / Ola experiences.

However, recently few complaints were mentioned in my apartment group. One of a pre booked car which turned up late - some 20 mins late for an airport drop, causing some anxiety. Another was of a car which mid way through the trip mentioned that the battery got discharged and had to end the drive. Apart from these, haven't heard any negative reviews about them.

Re: Bangalore: Shoffr airport cab service; an alternative to Ola/Uber

BluSmart used to be good, but recently, they have exploded in their pricing. To the point where it has become prohibitively expensive for us to even think of BluSmart.

The premium over Uber / Ola don't make much sense.

Surprisingly, both MakeMyTrip Cabs and Wegacabs have been much cheaper, often competing on price.

We are traveling next week, and were planning to pre-schedule a cab to the airport to catch our late-night flight.

Here was the cost breakdown:
  • BluSmart: 1532/- after discounts
  • WegaCabs: 961/- fixed
  • MakeMyTrip: 811/- with some discounts
  • Shoffr: 1565/- fixed
All options above are inclusive of toll charges, and for hatchback / sedans (except Shoffr, as Shoffr only uses BYD Atto). Uber and Ola have no pre-booking options.

We are traveling to the airport near midnight, would not want to compromise on our safety by taking any of these non-toll routes.

We checked with a few local vendors, pricing was in the vicinity of 900-1000 INR.

Shoffr starts to justify the cost only if we had more than 3 people traveling with their luggage. Then it becomes the cheaper option over booking Ertiga or Innova through other portals.

Re: Bangalore: Shoffr airport cab service; an alternative to Ola/Uber

Thanks folks. I ended up using MakeMyTrip. Bluesmart app was temporarily not allowing UPI based payments, so I decided to wait and after that the slot was not available. So I tried MakeMyTrip and got it booked. MakeMyTrip seems to have a nice feature - they’ll pay you up to 5k (if I remember correctly) if they don’t show up on time and you end up missing the flight. Cab wasn’t all that clean but not too bad either. The driver was helpful. I had accidentally booked drop to terminal 2, which I realized after the cab was alloted, MMT support couldn’t do anything and asked me to try to make the change in the app - but that was proceeding like a new booking and asked for approx 500 extra. But the driver agreed to drop me in terminal 1, so all went well.

Wega cabs is my go to choice for Airport drops for the last few years. The rates are very reasonable and have been on time everytime. The cabs are also decently maintained.

However, its a bit of a hassle during arrivals since it includes waiting and coordinating with the driver. Did that a couple of times and went back to Meru airport cabs.

I’ve booked my return drop from BLR airport to home via MMT, but I am having second thoughts. In the event that the flight or baggage gets delayed, there is a fare for waiting. Also extra KM is charged at Rs 20+. Wondering if it is better, to simply book after landing. What would you folks recommend?

I usually use blusmart's instant ride booking option for this. It allows upto 3 hours of booking so i just booking when I board the flight and walk up to the blusmart zone.

In the off chance this option is not available, I end up using the airport cab like meru or KSTDC.

I used the eVeelz service in October for a ride from Airport to City. Booked using their app and the car I got was Nexon EV MAX. I did pay only 699 Rs. No complaints.
Note that this 699Rs is a limited time offer and not a permanent fare. The fare showed to my location before discount was 2000Rs, which is at par with other operators.

Ola and Uber is becoming really notorious and hate them to the core for Airport rides. Better to go for dedicated airport taxis like Shoffr, eVeelz and the likes.

Had an airport run this week and found that Blu Smart at Rs.1089 was cheaper than eveelz (Rs.1300 odd) and booked it, good experience.

I was a bit reluctant to use Shoffr this time after reading recent comments here.

Did you not get the discount on eveelz? It comes up as coupon code which you need to select.

Re: Bangalore: Shoffr airport cab service; an alternative to Ola/Uber

I've been a long-time user of Shoffr's airport taxi service, but my recent experiences have been quite disappointing. Last week, I booked a Shoffr taxi to the airport. An hour before the scheduled pickup, I called the driver to ensure he would arrive on time, especially since it was late night. Unfortunately, the driver arrived nearly 20 minutes late, and to make matters worse, he was visibly tired and sleepy during the drive. After speaking with him, I learned he had been working for over 18 hours straight and was clearly being pressured to continue. It made me uncomfortable, so I felt compelled to engage him in conversation for almost an hour just to keep him alert. Even then, he was driving very slowly.

On my return trip, things got worse. The driver assigned to pick me up didn’t show up at the airport. When I called him, he told me he was too far from the airport to pick me up and suggested I either contact the head office for a new cab or cancel the ride and arrange for another taxi myself. He refused to share his contact details. This was after midnight.

These two incidents, in the span of just 10 days, have left me feeling that Shoffr is heading down the same path as Ola in terms of service quality.

Sad to hear about Shoffr going downhill. Blusmart have emerged as a preferable option. I now stick to my local cab operator - an advantage with the local guys is that in an instance of your cab getting stuck, they have the wherewithal to arrange for an alternate cab. Never let me down - touchwood ! Can't say the same about the app driven operators, you're left to the mercy of their contact center operatives and processes.
