Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

Saw a couple of Scorpio's this week, both KA 51 registered - sorry no pics as I was on my bike. The plate was black with the numbers in gold. Is this for the self driven rental cars? I remember seeing such plates in Goa on mostly rental 2 wheelers. Can anyone shed light whether it's legal here in Karnataka?

Golden numbers on black background is seen in TN and KA too; and are usually illegal "fancy" plates. Yellow numbers on black background are vehicles that fall under the Rent a Cab scheme of 1989 (ie, available on hire without a driver) - Carzonrent's vehicles are the ones most commonly seen on Bangalore roads.

Thanks binand. I guess it was yellow numbers on black background because I happened to see one more last evening and this one had some Rent-A-Car company logo on the driver side door.

Cheers

Caught this 'Bliss' on Friday:

OT:
If I had the money, I would've bought that Cruze. Well kept, and smokin' hot matte black alloys + a few subtle mods on the front + black top. It had a 'For sale' sticker on the front and rear glasses.

This guy is cashing in on the car. Not because of the condition of the car. His USP will be the number plate. He would have paid a premium for that plate and expecting it from the seller. Very clever and bold.

Could be the newly renamed state 'ODISHA'. Previously it was OR (Orissa).

This change in name happened about 2 -3 years back. For someone like me who comes from Odisha but has been brought up in Delhi - I still prefer to say Orissa just as I continue to say Connaught Place and Bombay.

Another state that went through such a name change is Uttarakhand (UK) from the previous Uttaranchal (UA). I still see both on vehicles in Bangalore though the name change happened in 2007.

Mamta Banerjee wanted to rename West Bengal (WB) to Paschimbanga (which can't be PB, since it is already taken. So then what?). Don't know what happened to that proposal.

(Her personal choice apparently was Bangabhoomi, which could have been BB - the only other alphabet repetition apart from DD).
