Speaking of number plates in other languages i remember this one incident years back at mount road in chennai where a two wheeler was stopped for sporting a number plate in tamil. when filling out the challan the cop asked the rider to translate the letters and numbers cause he couldnt read tamil. the rider then started humiliating the cop saying that how could he not read his own mother tongue. dont know what happened to the rider...

The BHAI is Superb !!! I dont know where the Cops are ? dOr How many time he paid money to Cop.
Any way I have seen some no In Bangalore(Cosmopolitan City) with a Kannada no that too in designing fashion. I am 100% sure that many Kannadiga will be not able to read at all. And 100% Kanndiga will not able to read if this vehicle Zooms away. Basically No One can read.

I believe As long as you No is Clearly Readable Its Ok to have Diff font from the specified one.
I have also seen a Sonata Embrera which was displaying the no in one line. The Max height of the no is 1 inch with very thin width letter. So you can imagine the visibility. I dont know if that owner get shortage of money after buying a so expensive car.

Spotted Weird Number Plate in Gujarat

This number plate I spotted in Gujarat yesterday.
Three Alphabets - One digit number - two numeric and one alphabet - four digit numbers !!!!

Is a new numbering system already introduced? Or is it a plate-maker's typo?? (I doubt that a brand New Merc owner would sport a wrong number plate..) Anyone can throw light on this please...???

looks like a typo somewhere - there is no reason to introduce a 3rd alphabet...

very creative method to fool the police regarding the ouside state registration.

no here in Ahmedabad the series goes with GJ-1-ab(two alphabets-0000 four numbers, but if the same car is registered outside ahmedabad limit it goes like GJW-1-AB-OOOO, hope its clear.
GJ- stands for gujarat
1- stands for city, here is for ahmedabad
ab-stands for new series
0000- stands for number registered
w-stands for outside city limit registered which is address is outside of city limit.

There are clear rules regarding the size of the letters, colour of letters & background, size of the number plates and clear specifications for the different catagories. But a number plate in any other language other than english is a No No.(even for Government Vehicles, I understand).
