Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

I liked the idea and the way the number plate has been made.

Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

at first glance one would think that the number plate has fallen, but when you take a closer look you realise it's been bolted that way! why? beats me!

Could it be a military vehicle? Usually military vehicles bear these kind of number plates but there is always an upward pointing arrow before the letters. Like this one for instance:

That's Consular Corps. Foreign diplomats in India have those kind of numbers.

Ironh4wk,

You had posted a picture of another car with this type of number in the link,

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/street...-plate-20.html.

Next couple of posts have a good explanation of it.

Regards

IIRC, that was a blue number plate. I should have been clearer - this one has yellow plates, but numbering similar to that of consular vehicles. Why and what's the difference?

Some reading I have done suggests that the blue plates are reserved for accredited diplomats, while the yellow (regular) ones are for unaccredited staff (administrative staff of the consulate, for example).

The latter group has apparently much limited diplomatic immunity.

I'm not a native Tamil speaker but can manage it a bit. The number is TN-2?-P-8836.

Edit: It begins not with the regular "tha-na" seen in Chennai and elsewhere, but with "thiruma nartu". I don't know what that means.

I'm not a native Tamil speaker too, but this is the exact conversion:

Thirumaa Naadi
20-P-8836

Must be TN-20-P-8836

This number plate is illegal and worthy of a fine as per the Motor Vehicles Act. That much is clear.

Personally I hate this parochialism and the proponents of such, whether it be in TN, KA or anywhere in the country.

Oh now I see. It is not a dot, but the screw that holds the plate. So it is "Thiruma Naadu".

Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

New trend seen in Bokaro. Ok, the number plate is illegal on almost all vehicles here, but what is the point of putting engine and chassis details on the plate itself?
