Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

Yesterday noticed a vehicle which had the letters on the rear number plate back-lit using LEDs. The problem is the the light is not even, across the letters, and the number is not legible. Dont know why they need to spend money to make it this way!!

A very interesting thing that I just observed about the white XUV 5OO.

1. The top left sticker is of 'All India Anti Crime Bureau' which is basically just another bogus organisation that wants to get some mileage before entering the political arena. Maybe I should start an 'All India KTM Owners Sangharsh Samiti' as well.

2. The logo of this organisation has the Police background colours (Red/Blue) whose usage by anyone except the police is absolutely illegal.

3. The bottom right has a sticker of the Indian National Congress. Read my point 1 once more.

Oh, another thing. The logo just beside the 'MH' on the number plate is of this organisation alright, but it is extremely similar to the logo of the Maharashtra Police. At the first glance, an unsuspecting driver would probably hesitate to overtake this vehicle because it appears to be the official car of a very senior cop.

Lastly, government vehicles don't exactly have 'Live young. Live Free' written on them.

I wonder how many drivers has the owner of this car bullied on the road and how many toll payments has he escaped. Dolt.

I just hope this moron can be reported to the MH Traffic Police FB page (if they have one).

Attaching the photo again for everyone's viewing.

I received this as a gift. The plates are from Germanplates, and use the German coat of arms. Is this ok to use in India? The number is clearly visible and it doesn't use any fancy lettering gimmicks.

Presence of any other characters or designs on the number plate are not allowed according to the rules.
Having sad that, it is the norm that no one follows it.
It I were you, I would get rid of the German colours and leave just the registration.

+1 to what tharian said.
BTP and RTO folks get attracted towards anything and everything on the number plate.
While the fake blue IND stickers on most number plates are illegal too, but are generally ignored.
But the German flag stands out and surely will attract cops. Put up a white tape on the flag, rest of the plate looks good

Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

IIRC, the font & size of the letters/numbers on the plate are also specified. Sad to see people violating the rules and nothing being done about it.

In most countries, the registering authority issues the number plates, whereas in India it is left to the dealer, individuals & private companies to make them.

Re: Take a look at this number plate!!

Sigh, this was what I was fearful of. Let's see. I'll probably cover the flag with white plaster. But it totally ruins the look of a very classy looking number plate.

Sorry Mods for going OT !
Euro plates are the rage these days ! Everyone from Lambo's to Nano's has them.

Go to any number plate shop or accessories shop and ask them to put some matching white vinyl tape/white sticker tape and you're set. Will hardly cost you 20-30 Rs.
