Saw a heavily modded Polo (with alloys and tyres similar to SUV, black tints, Police LED flashers inside the front grill and what not).

But, this vehicle didn't have number plate in the front!

The rear plates had this lettering 'SLATPOLO'

I still can't digest the fact this contraption is plying on Chennai roads

While I do have great regard for the entire armed forces, I found this to be strange. I have seen most official armed forces vehicles to have a number plate, though with their own sequence, starting with an upward arrow and the year of procurement, this vehicle did not carry any registration on it, except that someone in the rank of a Lt. General was traveling in it. Possibly a brand new vehicle that hadn't got its registration plates yet. But then, I wonder where that number plate would be mounted since the 3 star plate was firmly fixed.

While it is not apparent why there is no number plate on this particular vehicle, it is known that the armed forces are sticklers for regulations. Their motor pool would not let any vehicle out unless it met all the norms. The driver is also responsible for following all norms, including displaying the stars only and only if the officer is travelling in the vehicle and should be covered otherwise.

This belongs/belonged to a bhpian IIRC. He also owns a lovely Nissan 300ZX, a W140 Merc, a W221 Merc S-Class, a Harley Night Rod and an E60 BMW M5.

All his cars except the Nissan have these mafiaso Russian plates.
