Video: Tata's flooded stockyard in Vijayawada | Water up to headlamp level

Got this video in whatsapp. As a golden rule, if anyone is buying car after any floods, they should insist on newly manufactured car after the date of floods.

These cars will be sold in other states from their Authorized dealer as well as roadside dealers. They will sell these cars as brand new cars after getting it repaired by the transit insurance. Indian laws are so weak that the dealers are confident enough that no one can win against such malpractices

IMHO, if a dealership knows a flood/heavy rains is coming, they should take measures to safeguard their stock. Truly disheartening to see this.

I assure you, there is no chance at all. No one had any idea about the severe rainfall or floods, even the government was clueless with no news/alerts to the people.
In less than 5 minutes, we were in neck-deep water and within 40 minutes, the entire building merged in the water with no trace. Such a horrible situation.
The only good thing is that it happened early morning around 5:30 - 6AM (atleast in our area) otherwise it would have been disastrous.

Coming to the video.. Jasper Vijayawada is not just the largest stockyard, but also the largest service station and workshop for every type of TATA vehicle in AP. I hope that the service vehicles are located in a safer/higher location.

Note:- All other manufacturers (both CV and PV) have stockyards in and around the same location. So, be extra cautious while purchasing vehicles in this region.

My condolences. Hope you are OK.

What I meant was that if there are warnings about floods and heavy rains, dealers should take action. I was not talking about this case specifically.

Once again, I hope that you are fine.

Looks like this news reached mainstream media

And AP CM promised for insurance compensation for all the vehicles damaged in floods not specific to this showroom.

Re: Video: Tata's flooded stockyard in Vijayawada | Water up to headlamp level

This is really disheartening to see new cars and customer cars (may have come in for Service) submerged in water. This Stockyard is around 8 kms from the Krishna River Bed. Last Saturday it rained heavily continuously the whole night so I am sure nobody would have had an iota of thought about facing such a situation. Currently Vijayawada is in a mess. I know of areas which are far off from River Bed and are submerged upto 10 feet water. Lot of Buildings are submerged upto 1st Floor.

People buying Tata cars in and around AP, in the next 3 to 6 months must be careful.

Hearing all the cars scream (short circuit/horn) is a bit eerie.

Flooding is due to budameru overflooding not krishna river. And this is not the first time . Same riverlet caused floods in the same areas multiple times in the past which were even more intense. ex:- 2005 floods.
It seems budameru is locally called as "Vijayawada Dhukkadayani" (Sorrow of vijayawada)

Re: Video: Tata's flooded stockyard in Vijayawada | Water up to headlamp level

Today, the dealer (Jasper Industries) has released a Newspaper advertisement promising that any of these submerged vehicles will not be sold.

The press release is in Telugu & the gist is:

"They are a renowned company established in 1955 & for them TATA Motors means Trust and they have been upkeeping the same for the past 70 years.

Whatever is being portrayed in some news channels and social media that the submerged vehicles will be sold to customers is false and they pledge that they will not sell any of the submerged vehicle. They also claim that TATA Motors is continuously monitoring their activities.

They always work for the utmost satisfaction of their customers, & if anybody has any doubts or need more information, they can reach their representatives Hemanth Rao - 95XXXXXXX & Anil - 98XXXXXXX"

If any other member can translate it better, they are welcome. This advertisement was published in Andhrajyothy, 10-Sep-24.

PS: I do not have anything to do with the Dealer (Jasper Industries) nor TATA Motors. Just wanted to update the thread, as most of you wouldn't read a Telugu Daily.

Vijayawada got 1800% of it's normal rains in that period.

There's no country / city on earth that is prepared for this kind of a deluge.
