Re: Neighbour thought my car was his?! Demanded keys & driver

Is the thread title a bit confusing?

Neighbour thought my car was his?! Demanded keys & driver

Then it is mentioned that he's a stranger and cannot be traced.

@Ratchet Your society seems to have more than the average number of loons one would find in a place like this.

This reminds me of the time a friend and I had stopped at the Nelamangala signal in his Sumo and a crotchety old villager just opened the door, got in and demanded that we take him to Bangalore.
We had to get the cops involved because this dude just wouldn't budge. They extricated him and put him on a bus.

Turns out that someone had told him that he should board a Tata Sumo at Nelamangala and it would take him where he wanted to go at a reasonable price.

@roy.s yes you are absolutely right. I have been witnessing incidents happening inside the society in the past few years like I have never seen before in my life.

Yeah, things are silent for now. And yes, its the same 6GT , that is why I mentioned this is the second bitter experience for me in the parking.

Else just random curious John Doe. But I doubt that.
The bag had his personal stuffs, nothing scary. Came to know that the person he was speaking with was another person in the society. So like I said, he turned out to be another owner and I got the complete details when police came to take him.

Yes.

Nothing scary , it had his personal belongings. I did not file a police complaint because police came and took him the next day. Came to know that he was constantly under the influence of drugs and alcohol and they took him to a rehab.

His actions just don't make sense. he is into some real potent stuff.

Maybe your society has rules against renting out parking space to outsiders and he was crosschecking the apartment owner's name with that of the car owner by checking the number-plate.

Looks like he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol which impacted him mentally.

And no one has similar car in the society. So there is no confusion , he specifically asked for the keys to this car and a driver to take him somewhere.
Only silver lining with mentally unstable cases like this is he will never let another 'real' vandal or thief near his, err, your car.

Sir, are you sure only the car has to move somewhere to safe spot? Because when more than one such case happens, I'd strongly be motivated to move myself out of that area, not only the car.

This has to be handled carefully and might happen again to you or to someone else.

It's funny that on a normal, peaceful day, problems will come to us by fetching an Uber or Auto to destroy our peace of mind.

Feel bad for this. Not sure if it is practically possible, but can you trade your parking spot for another one (within your eyesight/in a corner away from cars) with one of the residents, even if it means spending some money, it should give you a peace of mind.

You are right, I am indeed plotting a plan so that I do not have to deal with such issues.

That is exactly what happened with me on both instances. The car was just there parked and I am at home and someone decides to play with my peace of mind.

Understood, but unfortunately I know none of the parkings in this society is safe when people decides to target my car like in this case. Anyway I am planning something else soon to tackle these issues.

Re: Neighbour thought my car was his?! Demanded keys & driver

Slightly off topic but I have encountered people like these. We were not at home one day on diwali week, me and my dad had painstakingly put up diwali lights outside our home. Those lights were costly and took days to find the correct size, when we reached I noticed that the lights were not switched on and one wire was dangling, with the help of the security guard opposite to my house we got to know that there's a mentally unstable boy of age 10-12 who came in with scissors, climbed the gate, cut the wire, stole a steel bucket and fled. This made me furious and we went to confront the boy, but left him since he had no money to pay and his parents don't stay with him.

I think you might have misunderstood the whole situation. It looks to me as if the driver of your neighbor was asked to get the car ready for going out and he ended up mistaking it for your car.

Oh what is wrong with people these days. The greed for money and being jealous of others stuff is just getting unreal. The audacity to demand key of your neighbors car.

Heard he was completely in to drugs and alcohol. Might have affected him mentally. The police took him to a rehab.
