Ask any HR/Admin staff, even in IT companies. It is a huge headache to train new staff every year to use the western style toilet without squatting on top. Some simply refuse to adapt, even when they go onsite.

I guess you are confusing it with Strippers.
What they have mentioned is absolutely correct.

What? You mean to sat that potty training is part of the responsibility of Indian HR departments? How the hell do the know what people are doing in the toilet anyway

Oh well, I suppose its good to hear of HR doing something useful. I bet they hate how it cuts into their politics, manipulation, and pretending its them that runs the company time

But there is something much more wrong here. This is India: didn't the architects know that when they built the buildings? Why are there no Indian toilets for those that want them? Even the trains provide a choice!

It is one of the best kept secrets of Indian HR/Admin department. I didn't know it until I started a company myself.

Dirty foot print on the toilet seat, you need more evidence?

If you look at apartment/home/office built in the last 15-20 years, they all have western toilets. It is very rare to see Indian toilets in India, at least in the cities.

To be fair, this is not potty training.

There was some poetic licence involved .

Actually, I do know this can be a problem. Had a housemate in London, who, after travelling out-east, could not give up the squatting habit. "Western-"style WCs are not made to take the weight like that: he broke the toilet.

Luckily, he had some plumbing skills...

True, but if one just has a quick glance at it, you'll mistake it for the other word. Saw few folks taken aback with that nifty little sign, men and women alike

In a world where shortcut is the norm, don't think those people figured that Strippers has double 'P'

One maore way to interpret is that they all had perverted thoughts and that's why the first thing that came to their mind was Strippers. Just kidding! LoL

Hehehe.. Ever seen a "western style" combined with an "Indian style" one. Had seen one while staying in Gujarat. I am sure they have taken care of the weight part.

Rarely, but yes, I have seen. I'd still be terrified of falling off!

Yes it is available from all major brands. Here in Bangalore many builders will install the same if you request. The name what they use is not so politically correct 'Anglo Indian model'

OT: Most of the EWCs have weight tolerance capacity mentioned on their product literature, generally they don't break easily. Isn't it.
Yes its called Anglo-Indian but most people don't like the design so decide against it.

cross-fertilising with the computer nostalgia thread, a joke or fortune cookie used to be an optional part of the Unix login. One of my favourites was...
